This city is going absolutely nuts. Even 15 minutes outside of the city I was driving around and people are pouring into the streets. Waving flags, cowbells, air horns, people honking horns, this city is going nuts. And I could not be any happier!!!! CONGRATS PHILS!

Anyone know of any good excuses to get off of work for the first parade in a half century!?

"Goin to the parade." Or the classic "Lots of traffic, sorry I'm 6 hours late"

You have a job that doesn't give you sick days, personal holidays or anything?

Only problem I see with that is I took two days off last week because I was going to Lake Placid, NY for Can/Am, and that there wouldn't be traffic because it's a 3-minute car ride haha. I work at a bakery and Friday's a busy day with a lot of orders for people for Halloween so I'm trying to go in late.

Chadd, I don't think that's the case at all, at least with the numerous Philly fans I've talked to since the game. We're upset that the top half of the sixth was played and the game was stopped after the Rays had tied it, that's where we feel screwed. On top of this, there's a consensus that no one wants a championship awarded after an incomplete game. Did they directly say they wanted the title right then? I disagree that a large number of fans would have wanted the game called as soon as it was official.

Different fans have different opinions. A large number of people I spoke too were upset that the Philles were not already drinking the champagne. For what it's worth, I hope none of you are flying through Philly the day of the parade.

Not a die hard Phillies fan but being that I'm from Philly, I know tons of them. Not one that I have spoke to wanted to win the title via a called game. We've waited 25 years for a title in this town and there's no way any of us would want our first championship in so long to have a question mark like that tied to it. Phillies fans are more laid back then Eagles or Flyers fans and most seem to think either the game should have been delayed earlier or that calling it at 2 - 2 was fair.

Either way, it's great to finally have a title here again. I wasn't born for the Flyers cups and I was 7 when the Sixers last won so it's been a long time. Going to take my 18 month old down to the parade for a bit tomorrow just in case he has to wait as long as I did for the next one.

The parade today was incredible. This is a day I will remember for the rest of my life. They're estimating over five million people showed up for it. And for the record, Chase Utley:

On a side not, I hate how ethnocentric that is. I realize that the US dominates baseball in international competitions, but to be declared World Champions in a league in America.... At least soccer's World Cup has international participation.

The best baseball players in the world are in MLB, outside of maybe Yu Darvish.

Well then I take it you're not down with the same designation for the NFL and NBA?

Really though, for most sports, the world, comes *here*.

I went to the parade and got tickets at the Linc. It was such an incredible experience I'm so glad I skipped a day of class to go, to see all the people and the then the team was astounding. In hindsight I'm glad I ended up driving, we went around to SEPTA stations all over SE PA but the trains were so congested driving became the best option, and WIP was saying the same thing towards the afternoon.
