couldn't find a thread on the 3500.

they look the exact same but what are the major differences between the 3500 and the 4500?

...reading the descriptions, i don't see any differences at all. but maybe there's something i'm missing?

and if i order from hockeygiant.. is it a guarantee i'll get what's pictured? i know for the 3500 they have the white pictured with the white ear loops and white chin strap.. but if i ordered a black one would it come with black ear loops and black chin strap?

thanks in advance!

i plan on putting a cage on it, just not sure what one yet.

that's basically it, right? reading through both descriptions, that's all i really noticed.

hm. so i could go with either or.

i think i might just go with the 3500 to save myself some $$. i'm only gonna be using the bucket for pickup/adult league.

Even if your just playing pickup? Why wouldn't you want to protect your head? I have caught an edge skating backwards and landed on the back of my head and was thanking myself for laying down the extra $$$ for a better helmet. Yes in the short run its more $$$, but in the long run you could be saving yourself a concussion or other head problems that can cost much more than a couple of bills...

More money does not invariably mean more protective.

It is likely you would have suffered no greater injury with, as an example, the 3500 as opposed to the 4500.

have you tried any NBH helmets on? Do you know if they fit your head well?

yeah i tried on a 8000 and a 8500 a couple months ago. i did try on a 4500 but it was a size smaller than my normal size. i'm a 7 3/4 in fitted hats so i'd be a large in NBH helmets, i tried on a medium and if fit well (but that's after a fresh hair cut (depending on my mood my hair will be either really short or sort of longer) with longer hair.. i need a large)

they fit my head well.

i guess i'll be on the look out for a cheaper 4500.

thanks guys!

I'd pay the difference for dual-density VN.

what makes the dual density VN better? and what are your opinions on EPP foam?

I just ordered a 4500. I keep getting these really bad headaches when im on the ice with my 5500 and im trying my old 8000 tongiht at practice. I had a concussion in May using the 5500. Both fit pretty well but im wondering if VN is any more protective.

There's been several lengthy threads with some really good back and forth arguments as to why EPP may not offer the best protection. A lot of knowledgable folks here prefer VN lids.

Personally, I am more comfortable in EPP helmets with insert pads like the Rbk 8K.

$9 may not seem like a lot to some, but it is to many. If you can swing it, then they are right....get the 4500. I got the 3500 as I wasnt even sure if I was going to be able to play...or even like it, so I went bare bones. Now that I know I am in hockey for the long haul and love it, I am systematically replacing my equipment with better quality stuff.

If you got the $9 bucks, do it.

When I last tried on a 3500, the clear ear pads were solid colored black plastic, it looked terrible. Also, the Medium size did not fit me at ALL, compared to the 4500 that fits perfect.
