Putting water in your skates

Recommended Posts

Another day during Caps camp I so one guy sprinkle some water from the faucet into his skates with his fingers. Just a litlle more then a few drops. Skates definitely did not look new. He did wear socks. Skates were CCM Pro Techs. I am wondering why did he do it? So the skates do not slide?

a friend of mine does it because he skates bare-footed and he feels that it helps keep his foot adhered to the clarino (Vapor XXX)

No idea how scientifically sound, but that's his reason.

Were the skates new? Older skates which were not heat molded could be broken in much quicker with a wet sock or adding water inside.

Cheers

Pro tacks can't be that old

Not a big deal. Like I said, skates looked well used. I could try and find out who they guy was. This year there were too many "friends of the friends".

Liner did look like Clarino, coffee with cream color.

Sorry to waste everyone's time with this.

Back to watching the debate. Oh wait, I have been staring at my blender and my toster oven for the last hour....

Used to do the same with my old 752's to get rid of the crusty feeling inside around the ankle area. Worked well.

Some guys like putting on wet gear. Not that their stuff is crusty. A goalie that I play with often will douse his leg channels and C/A with water. Gets you into "game mode" faster, no dry gear rubbing on your skin, no transition as your sweat starts to get everything wet.
