Drop In/Stick and Puck In Montreal

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

I am a freshman student at McGill this year and am looking for a place to play hockey on the weekends. I have gone from playing 3-5 days a week year round to having not skated in a month or so since I've been here. There is drop-in at the campus rink but its in the middle of the day when I have class and only on weekdays. I really have no idea where any rinks are around here, but any help/advice would be awesome.

If it matters, I live near the Lionel-Groulx metro in St.Henri.

Bonaventure is kinda far from you, but it has Drop In/Stick and Puck about 3 sessions a day, to get there you just have to take the metro to du college station and then its like a 5-10 minute bus ride from there. I think its the bus 460 or 100, but I'm not positive, so just double check what bus if you do plan on going.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I don't have a car so I'm gonna be taking the metro/bus. I know the metro will be fine with my bag but what about a bus? I guess maybe it wouldnt be that crowded during the day on the weekend.

Yea Jackal I live in Solin. I tried to get on an intramural team but it was pretty unorganized and I wasn't able to because I didn't find a team in time. I will for sure next semester.

You'll be alright with your equipment on the bus. I've seen people board with all kinds of things including hockey bags. If anything try to sit in a spot where you can tuck it under the seat.

ya i did the whole bus/metro deal with my gear all through high school. it is a pain in the ass but its doable. the most annoying thing, though, is that some people (usually women over a certain age) will try to grab my sticks to hold onto when the bus starts (nevermind they're different colors than the metal poles and dont extend up to the ceiling). when im feeling especially pricklish i'll move them out of the way in the last second and watch them trip overthemselves

is that where the montreal juniors play? My friends team had a practice there , and they told me it's damn smooth. I still prefer the sportplexs 4 glaces, only because I'm use to it, it's close to my house and yeah. They have it almost everyday and countless times on the weekend. The people that go there are usually go there has style :o

Bonaventure always has the same ice times every day, anways, my last exam is December 9th, so anything after that is good for me. There is also the 4 glaces in Brossard on Tashreau that has lots of pick-up sessions, I think we should try and make a list of everyone thats from the area and that would be interested in play, I would be easier to organize once we have done that.

Theres one guy there that takes like 10 minute shifts, who had like his body crushed by some big rock like 5 years ago and he used to play in the ECHL too, I've seen him beat the shit out of some guys. I've talked to him a couple times in the room, he's a pretty nice guy thought. You know who I'm talking about?
