Best stick for a defensemen

Recommended Posts

Well ops's aren't made to be durable but the v110/120 would be a good choice from the ones out there. Some sort of Inno ops or shaft/blade combo would be good too.

If you are a defenseman and you want to sacrifice some weight, a TPS Rubber is a TANK, plus a nice PTC or X1 blade will make that a pretty wicked combo. It is available in various flexes too, you will be able to find something interesting for you. If not look at the UltraLite, another tank. The Mission sticks also seem to be strong, they feel so to me for some reason.

If you want a stick that is "very durable" I'd stay away from just about all OPS and high performance shafts.

yeah, the v120's haven't lasted much around here. a friend of mine bought one and took it to his tryouts for a junior team and broke it first week he used it...snapped the shaft in half

There isn't a stick "made for a defenceman", it's your preference in feel and pattern. Like Chadd said, high performance sticks aren't made to be durable and last long. Vector sticks dont hold up at the blade very well from the ones I've seen. I'd reccemend TPS sticks for durability in the ops category.

That's what happened to mine, but that's another story. 5 out of the 20 my team won broke in the first 45 days.

Should last a while too. I had the shaft for a year and it has yet to appear weak.

i hafta agree with either mission or tps, but you might wanna stay away from ops. unless youre really sick (and even then) the difference in performance isnt worth what you give up in durability, not to mention cash. if you want a tapered shaft so you can get performance like an ops get an r2 xn10 or l-2, and if not the mission m-2 is a great shaft for standard blades. personally tho id stay away from vectors unless youre sure you like it just cuz i kno so many people who got it and hated the feel because its not really the same as other ops (i.e. synergy).

A tank your calling a Rubber a tank.Rubber is probaly the weakest stick TPS makes. The old, old Redlites were good and out of all of those the one that has lasted me the longest is a Tri-core... that is a tank.

Morrow, from prior experience I think just the opposite. I do agree that the Redlite is a tank, but I have had 3 Rubbers that still feel as strong as they did, a couple I've given to friends and they still use them to no avail. The Tricore I have seen too many a time snap in half from shots, so I don't consider it a very strong shaft from what I've seen. To each his own though.

Oh ok all the Rubbers I have used have broken in at least a moth and my tricore lasted me a year.

i know someone who's got a rubber and its been going strong for near 3 yrs, and he also has one of the old green z-bubbles which lasted 3 yrs and finally retired it b4 it could break.

i've seen a couple tricores break all wear the wood ends near the blade and its just bare graphite.

sherwood taper and force flex shafts have been pretty durable for ppl on my team. about 5 guys use them and they're in mint condition after one year
