New Pants

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I have done some searching and seen some useful information. But to help me find the best set of pants for me I thought I would start a new thread.

Currently, I am wearing a pair of old Nike Ignite 3's. In the past month, I have went down on my ass/hip area as most people end up doing at some point. The thing is, I have injured myself both times and it feels like I have bruised my left hip bone really badly. Takes about 3 weeks to feel normal again. When I have fallen on it, I have gotten no protection or cushion from the Nike Ignites.

So I am on the hunt for some new pants that are going to give me alot more protection in the hip/ass areas. This would be easy if I could go into the the LHS and just try some on and have a look around, but we only have one store here and it doesn't have much stock at all.

I have been looking at Bauer pants in particular on the net but would like some opinions from personal experience on the likes of the One90's, XXXX's and the lower ends pants from the XXXX's, like the XXV's etc.

My friend has the CCM Vector 6's and these seem alot more padded in the hips but not the ass area. He suggested the Vector 8's would be alot more protective and what I am looking for. Any opnions on this? how about the Vector 10's?

Thank you for any help and sorry for the long read. ;)

I own a pair of One90 pants and i really like them. I switched from a pair of Pro Tacks and there is really a difference, the One90 are way more mobile and im more flexible. I recommend them, but i dont know if its worth the bucks.

Yo Sven :P

Thought you had no time for hockey these days man? haha

Money probably won't be an option here if I can find pants that are light and mobile and if they are going to result in me still being able to skate after falling on my hip. I think pants are one piece of equipment you shouldn't skimp on if you can manage.

I am in the exact same boat...my ass is killing me (wow I set myself up).

Looking for a solid pair of pants with good hip/ass protection that are still mobile. What are Tacklas' current pant lines like?

Sven that sucks! You really shouldn't.

What size are they?

Large.

But they are black, AFAIK you needed navy ones, right?

I could live with the black and would just need to get a shell sometime down the line. Let me find out about the large though, I am sure my pants are a medium and that size is almost spot on for me. I will let you know and will also wait and see what some other guys put in this thread about experiences with other pants etc.

Thanks Sven.

I have vector 8's and have had no problems with them. Have never had any pain from any of the hits or falls I have taken. I think they are a very good solid pant.

What level are you playing at?

I am a big from of my CCM 692s. I have yet to have any injuries/bruises from falls while in them.

Just open hockey and the only level of league we have up here. They are probably a bit more than I need but I like the little extra protection.

CCM 520's

Most bulletproof pant I've ever used.

Still if I was looking for something extremely protective, Tackla 5000x.

These would be pretty good on hip protection.

Cool. Have you ever compared these with the Vector 6's by any chance?

Thanks for all the other input so far guys. ;)

Not to much. I checked them out a little. The 8's just felt much more solid to me than the 6's. I think the kidney and tailbone protection is quite different between the 2.

The same thing happened to me wearing a Tackla girdle. I switched to the Bauer One90 and I've never been happier. It's a great pant, mobile and I'm fine with the weight. The pant protection is amazing in all areas. I highly recommend them.
