They fit pretty differently. 4-roll is a bigger fitting glove with traditional dimensions/angles. The HGT style gloves are slimmer, the fingers are slightly shorter, the fit is less supple, but I think they're still pretty protective. If the pair if TPS you're looking at have the first and pinkie fingers with no inside gusset you should probably try them to make sure you like them.

The 4-roll would have better air flow and the thumb is more mobile.

The 4-rolls are pretty heavy compared to the HGT.

4-rolls have more freedom in the wrist (IIRC. Correct me if I'm wrong...).

[Personally, I like the HGT more.]

HGT is a far better product and I have no idea how anyone could come to a different conclusion.

Brand power?

I believe the term is "fanboys"

are we saying the voting public are fanboys??

I'm looking to get a new pair of gloves and if the HGTs are that much better that could sway my purchase...

Try them out first. If my hands were any bigger I couldn't go with the HGTs since they only go up to 14". I don't know if the newer R8 gloves are better, but the HGT set I have feels like they sacrificed finish for weight, the gloves feel somewhat rough, where the Bauer 4-rolls are supple pillows on the shelf.

You may also not like the way the 2 outside fingers don't have inside gussets. I don't mind it, but I don't see the huge advantage other than on the pinkie where other gloves won't fit right and let the finger twist.

The HGT cuff is also slightly more restrictive, and the thumb protection with the removable plastic insert make that area feel very bulky inside.

wish I had somewhere to try them on...just went to the LHS (2 1/2 hr. drive) and they had little to no selection of gloves...may have to head to the other LHS to the south (Nashville).

As I have stated before, the 4-rolls are really bulky and heavy.

Nylon gloves are supposed to be light, aren't they?

this might seem over the top but it feels as though the 4-rolls are 1.5~2X heavier...

And yes, they actually do feel like pillows. But I don't think I want to hold my stick with a pillow.

R8 are a tad bulkier than HGT.

HGTs would be fantastic, for me, if they had a 1/4" added to their finger length(and I like my gloves tight on the fingers).

For that very reason, I don't have any TPS in the collection.

a 14 won't work for me so I guess its a 4 roll or something else...I never would've thought buying gloves would be so tough...btw has anyone seen a 15" Red, Black, and White 4 roll??? can't even seem to find one online...

There are a ton of pro stock HGTs floating around that are bigger than a retail 14
