Tackla Pro 5000 pants HELP!

Recommended Posts

Hey I just played with my new pair of tackla pro 5000 2 peice pants. my waist is size 32 so I ordered a size 50 tackla. anyways im coming fron a nike ignite 3 pant. felt like upgrading to tacklas becuz I use to have a set when I was a kid and they were the best fitting pants I ever had. so I bought the pro 5000.

problem is they very stiff around the waist, like when I sit down on the bench it feels like a tight pair of jeans. so I loosened all the adjustments, it helped a little but not much. I found the stiffness really bugging me when playing. bugs me right around the belly/beer gut. even tho I dont have much of a gut, im pretty slim.

so has anyone else experienced this with these pants? do you think they just need to be broken in for like 15 to 20 games?

I had these for quite a few years, they should break in and be very comfortable after a few games.

Where did you pick those up?

won them on ebay.

Yeah, I just got a pair of 5000 pros from TBLfan and they were stiff, but after wearing them for a week they seem to break in better and better every day.

I have a pair of 9000s and am also really bothered by the torso region of the pant on the whole. Do you find the belt system really terrible and have to really crank the laces to compensate? In a perfect world, the belt would get the job done and I could toss the laces but no dice. Everyone should have the belt be internal like bauer but I guess it is patented.

I have the 5000 Airs and they toke about six to eight sessions on the ice to loosen up. If your coming from a North American fit you'll need time to adjust to the tighter fit around the waist or just put suspenders on them and loosen up the waist and it will give you more of a N/A type fit. Either way don't give up on them just yet. Once you adjust to the fit you'll find it extremely nice and the mobility is very good on Tacklas.

They look like they are, they look very similar to my 5000 pros, but mine have zippers on the legs. Also yours have a zipper on the waist mine do not. These are Finnish made too, mine are Canadian so that could be why theyre are differences.

The tag says they are 5000 pros. Are they a 2-piece pant?

Okay thats good. From the looks of everything they seem to be 5000 pros. Thats a good pair of pants you have there. Just wear them and they should be broken in no time. I had the same problem, but mine are not nearly as bad anymore.

ok good to hear, were they bugging you around the gut too? like when you sit on the bench and when skating, bending low taking long skating strides.

Yeah they pants would ride up around my stomach when I sat down and it made it difficult to move in. The padding around the wasit/kidneys is really thick and the pads are stiff so Im guessing thats why this was happening. I wore them for 5 practices at 2 hrs each and by the last day they felt really good. I like the pant alot, but the initial break in is a pain.

it sounds like you and me have the same problem. With mine, it felt like I had the pants adjusted too tight, but when I let the belts out, the pants wouldnt stay. So, the pants were either too tight or too loose. Finally, after a long time (I remember it being more than a few skates) the interior padding started compressing and they started to feel normal.

Anyone who had 9000s have issues with those huge hip plates poking them in the pelvis/abdominal region during the bent part of stride? If so, how long did this take to resolve?
