Blade Dilemma

Recommended Posts

Guys, our coach wants us to, for some reason, switch to wood blades only and I use the Easton Drury pattern. Problem is, that the wood blades in the Easton catalogue do not list Drury. Any help? Thanks in advance.

Your either going to have to go custom or look for some NBH P91 tapered wood blades. More importantly, you should find a new team because as far as I'm concerned any coach who sets regulations for what type of equipment you should use is an idiot.

He claims that we are not able to make and receive passes. Just bounces off the stick, he says. We get pants, gloves, and helmets from the team, but he just decided, middle of the season to imply this new rule. I've tried the Ovechkin and it seemed different to me. I guess P91 is what I will have to shoot for, but I would still like to get tapered. Can Easton take an order of custom tapered blades? Thanks.

EDIT: Just saw Rustpot's link. Didn't notice the XXXX was tapered. Thanks!

hey, if the coach is giving you guys all the stuff to use, then I dont see the prob. try to find out the reason why he's donig that... could be some stupid excuse, but at least find out why. I, for one, would like to knwo myself.

I dont think I'll ever use a wood blade again, except back home at my parents' place where the ground is really unforgiving on blades.

If he wants you to use wood blades, he should be supplying them.

If you go through 3 wood blades in the time you'd go through 1 composite, or use only OPS and have to buy a shaft (assuming you'd want to stay with a comp. shaft).. or really if anyone on your team ends up spending money because of this, then yeah, definitely.

I would think your coach would say you should, or suggest you should buy wood and not require everyone be using wood blades. That's like an office job suddenly telling you to supply your own pencils, and they must be wood #2 (brand and density are up to you!). All the people using mechanical pencils would be pissed, especially if you've got a nice $15 mech. pencil.

Yea, I could see where he could be coming if the team supplied the sticks, but they don't. Well hopefully this is just a phase. Thanks guys.

my lil bros coach tried to do that for the early part of last season but that only lasted a week or 2 until the team got so pissed they all got together and said no if your using a ops i suggest not putting a wood blade into a comp. shaft the weight difference will be to weird to adjust to in just a practice possibly

I'm curious as to what you play, league wise or whatever or how competitive it is. I've never heard of a coach trying to make a rule like this. Anyway I've been using the xxxx wood blade for a while and I think I'm liking them a bit more than the easton ones, seem more durable so far anyway.

Yea its just highschool hockey. But to the other post about taping them... I have one-piece SE's right now and I just got the SE shaft... a little bit of spray paint to both of them and we won't even be able to tell haha.
