Interesting read on EDGE socks

Recommended Posts

I've never tried the Edge socks so I can't comment on those, but I've used the Nike Swift Socks for almost a year and they're the most durable socks I've ever used. They're still in great shape with no tears...I've never had traditional knit socks last more than a month or so without getting at least a few holes or tears.

A kevlar weave of some kind?

That's similar to what I was thinking. I'm sure just basic nylon would be tough enough to help.

Kevlar is a great idea.... UNTIL the bill comes due. how far do we have to go with trying to improve only to take steps backwards? i am all for innovation, but not at the expense of talent at the NHL and the pocketbooks of the everyday hockey player.

I hope they get rid of the stupid Edge system soon.

For one, i hate the jersey designs. That includes the fit, the stupid baseball jersey curve, and the flimsy feel of them.

Just make the old CCM style jerseys with Nike Dri-Fit technology or Easton Bio Dri technology and some mesh zones.

There is no reason to make them look like a football jersey and baseball jersey got together and had a love child.

Best jerseys ever made. They should look into that. Light, breathable, comfortable.

This is like a discussion on airplane crashes. When you consider how many flights there are daily around the world against the insanely low percentage of crashes, then flying in an airplane is not that dangerous. When you consider how many games in total in an NHL season with how many shifts by how many players against the low probability of a player suffering the injury that Selanne or Bieksa did, the chances of getting a severe laceration to your leg by a skate are minuscule. Building a safer sock should be a low priority item as compared to getting some mutual player respect established about head shots!
