Graf skates size mis-labeled

Recommended Posts

Well I bought Graf Ultra G35 and I had to return the first pair after taking out the insole and found epoxy in the instep of the lining. Now on to the second pair, the fit in the store seemed fine I figured after I put in waxed laces they would cinch up better. So I was at the rink looking at the skates before I was dressing and I noticed that engraved on the bottom of the skate on the composite out sole was the size 9 1/2 but I thought I bought a size 9(I ended up not skating with them). The size 9 was indicated on the box, on a tag attached to the tongue and written in silver marker on the heel of the inside outsole, which are probably all mistakes . I'm guessing that this is indeed a size 9 1/2. Am I being a Hockey Hyochondriac? I feel like the heel on the right skate isn't locked in as good as the first pair I returned. It just sucks that the LHS is a good 1.5 hour drive.

you paid good money for the skates you deserve to have them fit right. this is a good lesson any time you buy footwear always check to make sure you have the right size and a left and right in that size.

Graf size 9 and 9 1/2 share the same outsole (and the same holder size). If "9" is written in silver on the heel, I'd trust it's a 9. I've never found a pair with the wrong silver number inside.

Yea I second that opinion J.R. Guess the Euro boys just think differently. Kind of stuck in their own mould as it where.

So what makes a size 9 and 9.5 different? Longer toe cap? If a 9 and 9.5 use the same outsole then why would they have 9.5 embossed instead of say 9/9.5. I hope your right and my head is playing tricks on me making me think that the right heel is slipping a bit (which is weird since my right foot is longer).

Never understood why they couldn't be EVERYONE ELSE and put a frickin' tag on the skate tongue.

I guess they figured when they put the tag on the side of the tongue it makes people skate better.

Because... with their laser guided label straightening machine, they could only get the label straight 75% of the time. That much consistency isn't welcome at Graf Canada.

so do skate companies do half sized lasts or do they just fill in the boot to make up half sizes? I'm curious because I know some snowboard boot companies do the actual half sizes, never thought about hockey skates
