Stupid Question: If the playoffs started tonight right now (8:17 ESDT) , would there be a one game playoff because of the 3 teams with 76 points?

I was skeptical of the trade for Kunitz when I heard about it, but he's playing really well for the Pens. Great move for them.Against the lightning last week he was top notch. Had a giveaway at the start of the game, but apart from that played really well.

As for Gonchar, I'm glad we have him.

im pretty impressed - the pens were down 3-0 to one of the better goalies in the league and have come back to tie it so far...

i figured the streak was coming to an end - but who knows

a fine is ridiculous considering the events. The way I see it was that Malkin thought he was going to be hit and tried to prepare for it. The other guy saw he was going to get the puck and let him go instead of laying him out. Oh well he's got money I suppose.

Apparently stats don't tell the whole story. The TSN panel all voted for zach parise when asked the question "Who's had the better season? Parise or Crosby"

For the perspective of who's had a better personal season. I would agree that Parise (88 points) has played out of his shoes racking up a career high so far this season. While Crosby (96 points) most people agree could have had a better year.

But shouldn't they have taken into account the guys they're playing with. Surely it's easier to get points when your team has good offensive talents aside from the stars. Crosby now has Kunitz and Guerin, good line mates for him and they've sparked the PP a bit too. Also NJ have spent most of the season floating around in the top 3 (did Parise put them there? he might have helped) whereas the penguins have been floundering down around the playoff cut-off (did Crosby put them there? Surely not with 96 points under his belt and he's probably looking at his 3rd 100point season of his 4 year career).

I'm torn. It depends on how you choose to look at it.

That TSN quiz is stupid. (Captain Canada, Clutch or Consistency) Who comes up with this stuff??

I'd have to agree. A few years back I got into a debate with a hockey mom at my brothers game over ovechkin and crosby, and who was better. She felt Ovechkin was a puck-hog who refused to pass and thats why he has so many goals, where as crosby was better because he had more assists. She refused to even consider the fact that crosby had players on his team who could score, whereas Ovechkin was kind of on his own at times.

Anyway good to see another pens win. Sucks about Malkin's dangle around Vandermeer leading to a 4 minute penalty though.

Didn't he only have it off for a period? He should have left it off, honestly who knows if the both were on the ice at the same time in a point in the game where a fight wouldn't have been really stupid strategically for the team eh?

If you challenge someone and they answer the bell you better back it up no matter what point in the game it is. Savard looks like a bitch no doubt about it.

Anybody catch this story?

http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_d...?urn=nhl,149143

Savard comes out looking like a bit of a bitch...gotta respect Sid, I think he is tougher than people give him credit for.

I loved hearing that story. You know word has gotten around the league that Savard refused to answer the bell against Crosby of all people. Can't be good for one's rep, both in your own locker room and those around the league.

Good to see a guy like Crosby who gets flack as a whiner stand up and prove his worth.

few people even recognize these things though. It's much easier to use to old complaints of "oh he's a whiner..." from his rookie year, than to see he has actually grown in that regard and is willing to stand up for himself.

I'm glad Sid did it, I always thought Savard was more talk than action, and that went to and proved it for me.
