Quick question about quality

Recommended Posts

Just have a quick question then you guys can close it. From what you know, what is the quality of hockey skates exported to Europe? because I heard from a guy, that all the people at my rink listen to (I don't), that in Europe they import lower quality all made in China, and even the things made in China exported in Europe are worse than the stuff made in China that's in North America. I don't buy that, but I figured I should ask guys with more experience than me.

One more thing, what skate would you recomend on a low arch, low volume and slim feet? I want to get Bauer and I think the Vapor series would work great, now I own a pair of Flexlites that has way to much volume for me (didn't know that when I bought them, and they were the best choice at the time). Any input is welcomed. Thanks

At least CCM/Reebok equipment is or was definitely DIFFERENT in europe! Cant really tell if its lower quality though..

As far as i know the high end sticks + wood sticks/blades are made in Finland, everything else made in china.

I think that the first (2006?) rbk 5k blades were the same as in north america! Was a quite light 100% comp blade, patterns were Modano, Datsyuk and Thornton i beleve. The year after, the 5k came in the euro curves 5, 8, 11, 19, 23 and was a lot heavier and had some kind of "dura-core"...

2006/07 rbk protective also was very different in europe!

in switzerland companies save money by only selling "pro stock" sticks from ccm and rbk. the only patterns available are the R/L19/5/9/8 ovechkin sakic modano and lidstrom. the most common curves.

yes its said that the grafs made in canada are of a lower quality than the ones made in switzerland.

i doubt the quality in europe is any different, most people will use equipment bought from the US anyway just because of its price (in the past..), but if you're talking about brands like rebellion and salming; i think their quality has very little to do with their nationality.

certainly from a europeans point of view, we'd expect goods produced in north america to be of a lower quality than those made in europe. ofcourse that varies from industry to industry!

thanx, but I was refering to stuff exported to Europe, not produced. I am especially interested in Bauer if it's the same quality as in the US. Someone said something about RBK, I have a friend that has a pair of first generation 5k skates, made in china, and they are crap, bought in Germany, but overall Bauer is my number one concern.

I put this question about quality because the closest lhs is about 500+km from me, thats about 400 miles, so my only options are to buy online or to get them from a guy that gets them from Germany. And about buying online, I see that certain sites don't ship Bauer to Europe, what's up with that? Is there any website that ships Bauer to Europe?

I would really like to hear the opinion of a bauer representative about this policy of not allowing sites to ship to EU.

For Bauer, quite a few products are especially designed for the European market, usually small modifications that Bauer has found is required in the European market (such as pants with Velcro rectangles all over it for sponsors advertising) but as I understand it, its made in the same factories as the other gear that is shipped to North America.

For the shipping to Europe ban, it is simple, these websites are limited to selling within their countries borders.
