Graf G300 shoulder pads

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried the Graf G300 shoulder pads? I saw them at my LHS last night and thought they looked pretty nice for a low profile pad for adult hockey. They seemed to offer much more protection in the sternum and spine than the Sherwood Traditionals (which basically have no padding in those areas), and they also seem to be made of some nice materials. The price wasn't too bad on them either which is why I'm curious now. I searched the forum and couldn't come up w/ anything and google didn't help me much either so I'm hoping some of you guys might have some insight.

Thanks.

I looked at them along with the 500's and 700's. Ended up going with the 700's. Figure playing adult stuff that a guy my age (getting close to 50, ha ha) wanted all the protection possible. Fit and quality is superb. Also got the Graf G700 gloves and pants. Very pleased with the fit, finish and quality of all of them. Ditto the G3 Supra skates.

I looked at them and ended up with the 700s as well. For me they are just the right amount of protection while still being lower profile and not making me look like a football player.

edit - Guess it might be good to mention that I transitioned to the 700s from the Sher Wood 5030s.

Graf shoulder pads are nicely put together and offer great protection. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a pair if you like them. Haven't heard anything but good things about them.

Thanks for the replies. I picked up a pair of their 700 gloves last summer and have been really impressed with everything about them. My old Flak shoulder pads are nice but they're pretty large, I'd really like more of a lower profile pad without compromising too much protection but wasn't looking to spend all that much (I know, I want everything). I may have to try on the G300's and then compare to the 500 and 700 before I make any decisions.

Update, I went and tried on a few pairs yesterday and the G300 fit great and felt great but the shoulder cap was just a bit too small and left my surgically repaired shoulder pretty open which I didn't care for. I think I may lean more towards the 500 since it has the contoured shoulder cap and will cover the shoulder much better but my LHS didn't have them in a medium to try on (I barely fit my head through the neck hole on the small and the large was floating on me). I also tried on some TPS R4 (i think) pads b/c they were pretty lightweight and low-profile as well, I really didn't care for their fit though, they were cut really short and barely covered my ribs and the bicep pads felt like they were youth sized (and I have some pretty skinny arms, can't imagine how anyone fits into them).
