Vancouver Canucks 08/09

I have searched and didn't come up with an old thread to bump, so here goes.

The Nucks are in trouble.

Longest Home losing skid in Franchise History

Luongo has been shaky at best since his return from injury

Sundin hasn't been as advertised to date

Shane O'Brien and Mason Raymond got into it at practice last week with Willie Mitchell during a drill, fisticuffs ensued

Gillis has gone on record as saying he won't fire AV

AV Says he is not concerned about losing his job

Bieksa and Mitchell have looked like pylons in disguise for the last 3 months

what else have i missed?

Sundin is just in terrible shape. I really thought that given how long he waited to sign, he'd at least ensure he was in game shape. He'll be better soon enough.

He wouldn't be in this situation if he had made up his mind before the season so he could have attended training camp and played in the pre-season.

Sundin's starting to look better. I think he looked his best tonight, and not just because he had 2 points. He won 16 of 19 faceoffs and was actually seen hustling a few times. He just needs to get his conditioning better. He stops and starts to go the other way, and it's like he's lost all energy. Not taking dumb penalties would help too. It's too bad he signed this late in the season, because I think once he finally starts to get in shape and make an impact, the season's going to be over.

BTW that was a good game tonight. Big win to finally end the home slump. Awesome goal by Burrows.

Beat me to the punch on the bucket, but yes, he's looked a lot more effective in tonight's game. The Sundin Demitra Kesler line was actually looking pretty good tonight. Burrows I'd say has been the best player on the team the last couple of games, good to see him get the winner

That was a nice change, now if Lui could just get back his old form from before his groin problems.

Burrows and Kesler currently playing (as they have all year) very very well.

That have been the most consistent players on the team, too bad there top players like the Sedin brothers, and defencemen like Bieksa cannot step it up, because usually when your top players are playing good the rest of the team follows.

I think Sundin's starting to get his feet back under him. Hopefully him and the rest of the Canucks can keep up this pace. I kinda wrote them off when I saw they were playing Chicago. I was proved wrong in a big way.

That is hilarious! Must have been a funny shot back at Mike Keenan after he was half joking to the media earlier the day before last night's game about Willie Mitchell's Illegal stick...

Good stuff ! :D

For the most part I am going to assume it will be a warm to lukewarm response.

I can never understand the venom for Sundin. The only thing he was guilty of was being the best player that shit team ever had for the last 2 Decades at least.

Remember most of the "working stiffs" that supposedly are the "real fans" also can't afford tix at the ACC so while people might be throwing things at their TV's at home the building will probably be okay to him

Good standing ovation at the first commercial break. It legitimately looked like he was going to cry...

I think he actually was crying a little bit. Pretty awesome he got a standing ovation though.

EDIT: Way to go Mats. Good way to make a comeback. Vancouver's on a roll now.

That's some good freakin' drama...

Game goes to a shootout..1-1 after 5 shooters. Sundin is the last shooter...goes backhand scores to beat the Leafs.

Can't script 'em any better than that.

Boy tell me about it. Is there any way to finish the game better than the winner in OT (shootout)? No points in the game, but clutch when it matters. Story book ending I suppose.
