Closest Tapered Shaft to Bauer XV/TPS R2 XN10

Recommended Posts

As the topic says, looking for any suggestions as to tapered shafts that are similar in feel and performance to either a Bauer XV or TPS R2 XN10 in reg flex. Both are great shafts; however, I know they're discontinued and I can't find any store selling them. I reviewed the shaft and ice hockey forums but the closest tapered shaft that appear comparable are the RBK 6K and the Warrior Dolomite shaft. Opinions on both of these shafts would also be appreciative.

Thanks in advance!

Buy an XN10 OPS, heat and pull the blade out. Nothing kicks like an XN10. If you're willing to over-pay, I still have four new shafts in the closet. ;)

You can always overpay or wait for a special and get the TPS XN10 chrome OPS from HockeyGiant. I still feel a bit dirty ordering sticks from there, but they do offer a large selection of sticks and tend to move them cheaply. I walked into Strauss Skates in Maplewood, MN last night and noticed they were still selling Easton CNT Stealths for $229. Another shop is still selling Vapor XXX Lite's for $185...They've been out for awhile now too.

I saw these for around $100.00 on an email from HG a week or so ago. (it is the chrome that was on sale.)

Strauss is the kind of place that would charge $150 for a hundred dollar gift card.

I'm surprised at how they stay in business. Really old shop, great reputation I guess..I'm not sure why. I noticed they still price their 2-3 yr old model RBK skates at $350-450. They dont really seem to come down on their prices like other stores, probably why they have so much old stock.
