montreal hockey player sticks

Recommended Posts

montreal hockey is known for great goalie sticks but they make an unbelivable player stick at a very low price. lightest most well balanced stick i have ever used, tapered hosel, ultra thin yet stiff responsive blade. its the only stick iv used, with the exception of a synergy II shaft blade combo, that can handle a full speed slapshot coming down the wing without folding or tourqing on me. im 6'3 215 pounds and paly junior A hockey. im planning on buying these sticks wherever i can find them in stock

if anyone else has stories about unknown sticks post em.

i disagree, i find them plenty durable considering you can get them for 130 bucks compared to say a one90 which i can snap on command it seems

Wasn't Montreal bought out by Warrior? Do they even make sticks anymore? I did hear good things about their sticks, but never had the chance to try one.

Yes

No

Nice sticks but not as light as other brands, performance is subpar

Performance is outstanding, As light as the lightest sticks on the market, it's just I myself had probles with durability, I had 3 that all broke in 2 week spans. Luckily I only had to pay for one cause I know someone high up. If they actually had recognition in the marketplace then people would buy them.

I've found the wood replacement blades to be the best of any I've ever used. They lasted a very long time for me. On the other hand, I've been using some Nitro 8500 OPS that I got on closeout, and have found the feel of them to be pretty clunky. I don't really like them, but this model has been solid as hell for me (I tend to break OPS very quickly). I really, really like the CMX blades that they make. Think they're a wood/carbon hybrid of some sort. The CMH blades (composite) are way, way too heavy and will make your shaft feel imbalanced. Very durable, though.

Not sue if someone said so already, but I think Warrior bought 'em out.

Hockeyworld.com had a few montreal sticks (including some of the 8500 Nitro OPS) in stock at a good price.

Hockeyguys.com has the m95 (wood) and cmx (carbon/wood hybrid) blades, also 4400 and 7725 woodies.

I've seen them a few other places, too.... just from doing a google search.

It´s my first post, but I can confirm that Montreal sticks were the best sticks I have used, if we are talking about wood sticks. Also very durable. Took me a long time to break it down. As was written above Montreal was sold to Warrior a few months ago.

Montreal wood are great sticks. My LSH still gets them in, it is a bummer to hear they won't be coming out anymore as they are so beautifully made. I probably outta keep at least one intact, just for posterity.

I did that with a Victoriaville stick, not on purpose though. I was on hiatus from hockey since like 1991, and just started playing again 2 years ago. I went to a pick-up game on a whim one day, and of course used my old equipment from back in the day, which had been sitting in a duffel-bag for 16 years. Mega skates, Canadian helmet, Victoriaville stick(which was actually in brand new condition). Oh yeah, and my socks had stirrups. Needless to say guys were looking at me like I just stepped out of a Twilight Zone episode. But they were quite fascinated by my Megas and the Vic stick "...where'd you get those man? They don't make them anymore!...". I was not even aware that the famous Victoriaville hockey company had gone out of business, so I decided that since I had a perfect specimen of hockey history in my possession, why not keep it intact? As for the Mega skates, they got a bit more playing time before being retired to my hockey museum.

If you are into Standard 2 Piece shafts I would suggest you give the Nitro Force a whirl. I got one a few months ago and cannot believe how light it is! I have been amazed by the performance and would recommend it to anyone. I have never tried their OPS so all I can comment on is the 2 Piece. Mine is lighter than my buddy's dolo and is lighter at the bottom even with a wood blade.

Montreal 9918 wood/fiberglass stick. Nice balance & light. I'm looking for some if anyone has any laying around.
