Need some help from the Metro Detroiters

Recommended Posts

So I'm in a skate dilemma, and it looks like Flexlites are the skates I should be looking at next. The LHS here at college has a few skates in 11 D, I wear 11.5 wide. They do not carry Flexlites. I have never actually seen Flexlites in a store.

I've had my LHS add a set of the new 4.0 to their booking for June delivery, and I'll pay the return shipping if they won't work for me, but I'd like to see if I can avoid the trouble or confirm they work now by getting my foot in a pair.

I'll be heading to north metro Detroit next weekend for a day or two. I already feel like a dingus for all the shops I've called asking if they have the skates. Does ANYONE know where I can find a pair? 11, 11.5, 12 in D or EE would work. Does anyone OWN a pair in the same size specs that I could lace up?

I'll be at 22 and Van Dyke without a reliable means of transportation, but I can probably venture an hour out of the way.

LOL so you're just going to try on skates?

Come on.

I'm kind of in a pinch. My LHS has taken care of me and they will get my business regardless, but if I can stop by a store and plop a pair on my feet for a minute I'll take it. If they've got current top Flexlites (18s?) in 11.5EE for $350 or less than I'd probably buy, but I won't order through them. I was more figuring I might get close enough to be more sure of the order.

Called all of the Perani's, none of them carry the Flexlite line.

I'll try B&R.

Actually, not cool. We've repeatedly slammed people on here for doing it, just because you're "in a pinch" really doesn't make the situation any better.

I'm just saying - especially a store like B&R - they will actually give you service.

I don't think they will have FLs anyway.

Perani doesn't have old Nike? They used to have SMUs.

I've asked, they didn't have anything.

I realize it's kinda shitty. It's not quite the same as trying, getting fitted, finding exactly what I want and going online. If the store has what I need I'll buy it, but it would be no different then the 15 other times I've gone into a store, tried on 3 skates, the worker telling me they won't order some large sizes, me walking out and never coming back. I realize with the intention of ordering at my UP LHS it makes it somewhat deceptive. If I still lived in Shelby Twp or was there for the summer I probably would order with them, but my situation doesn't allow for that.

As long as I say I'm there to get a ballpark fit on a Flexlite, is it that shady? I don't really know what else to do besides wait for June and twiddle my thumbs.
