Unless someone flipped the image, then no, it's not. He shoots right.

Im pretty sure that was an image that was flipped not too long ago, in one of the custom blades threads. I am sure that it is the same picture, as to my knowledge, that is Ovechkins blade....

I will try to find the thread

The thing you guys are missing with the whole custom composite blades is that the process is not like wood blades, a member recently asked me about my custom ballistik composites which Im thinking are coming out of the same factory as those blades, and I think he was turned off by the $$$ aspect.

You will have to pay a $300 mold fee, ontop of 60+ (whatever they are charging now) per blade (12 blades). So right there you are at $1020....$85 per blade. That is a bit tough to swallow for a blade that might have a manufacturer defect and go on the first shot (thus being out one blade), remember when you order something custom like this the saying "pro stock - no warranty" applies.

Get the curve you want run in wood first that way you can tweak it however you want. Then you will have to send in a pattern anyway to get a compostie cloned, them just going off of a picture doesnt really work. If you decided you like the curve enough you cant live without it THEN send it in for composites...

Having your own custom composite blade is not for most.

ATM the price i did get was 12 x 60$ plus tax (cnd) no mold fee (but got to double check it)

And in my previous post i said i was going to try and get the curve like that with a sakic starting blade ( i use a schneider atm is someone close to what ovy is using)

I was just trying to shed light for people that are unaware of the process. I remember a member on here got a quote of $130 per stick from TPS for customs using a pattern they had on hand.

I figure price depends on which way is being used to copy your pattern from stick to stick. One of RBK/CCM's methods is using a piece of wood to mold/bend the blade over (which isnt the best for a consistent pattern). Defiantsports or someone in the "know" will be able to tell you what True Temper sports is using to fashion patterns (maybe they utilize whatever they are told), but not having to pay a mold fee certainly helps keep costs down. This is all assumed the 10k is made at the same place as the u+ (True Temper).

Not trying to steer anyone away from exploring their options, just trying to educate.

Sherwood also does custom composite blades with minimums of 3. I had a batch done and have another on the way. They're a longer hosel tapered blade like Dolo's, but so far I like mine. I've found the feel pretty good with RM19s blades I have. You would have to check with your LHS for pricing but only having to buy 3 blades at a time and no set-up fee, its not a bad option.

I think those come out of the True temper factory as well. Care you share the pricing breakdown on those?

Zach

Edit: Dont wait for someone to chime in, start making calls to see what companies are doing what in terms of the custom composites. Get a call into the CCM/Sherwood/whoever else rep (or lhs to deal with the shop) and see what they are offering. Easily the quickest way to find out all of the soultions they provide.
