SE 17 GRIP OR S17 GRIP

Recommended Posts

I know there has been posts before comparing, looked at those. Looking for opinions on both. Have a S17 now, love the stick but the blade gets soft quick. Want to switch to the grip, but looking at the SE 16 too. Have used Easton Sakic curve since the original red t-flex so gonna stay with easton. Love how light the S17 is. Any opinions on how one feels to the other?

Used and have both:

S17 super light and responsive when shooting. Similar to the original stealth in terms of feel, very light and and very quick release. Does wear down with use.

SE16 is very well balanced and excellent for stickhandling. Puck doesn't jump as much as it does with the S17.

I guess it depends what you're looking for. I find the SE16 to be a great stickhandlers stick, while the S17 is a great shooters stick. Both excellent IMO

to me when i picked up a s17 i didn't get that OMG factor...definately did with the se 16....but there's no doubt the s17 shoots better than the se16 but i don't know how the se16 would compare to like x:40 or the 10k when it comes to shots...might be better might be worse

I have found the S17 I have now shoots better, but I am def more of a puckhandler, and the feel of the puck on the S17 def is more lively, which is making me think SE16

What gave you the OMG factor with the SE16? With me the S17 definitely did once i started shooting.

its just the way it kinda balanced in my hands how light it was...it just felt right but with the s17 it just felt like just another stick if u get me ^^

does anyone know how the se16 shoots...and if the easton blade problems affect it?

Sorry to bump this, but I am looking at getting an 85 flex s17. Most people say it plays close to a 70-75ish but when I flex it a little in the store, it feels just like an 85. Does it flex a lot more when your shooting? Just curious as the shop I work at is out of the se16 in 75 flex so I would have to get the 85 s17 (I like discounts).

most eastons you have to cut it 2 inches to get the flex rating they put on it so a 85 uncut would be closer to an 80

Have had both, love both, but depends on how u play/ what you like. Personally, i like my 2 piece SE16 shaft better than both, cuz i can put a woody in it.

The SE16 is pretty balanced, mine is blade heavy, but the feel is definitely better than the S17.

But the S17 is one of the best shooting sticks of all time. Its light, the puck really flys of the stick, but the thinner blade makes it harder to feel the puck. It has a very quick release, but the blade does go soft after a while.

hey guys not meaning to change the topic, but just wondering if there are S17 shafts? I just love the OPS but due to the short life blade I'm thinking if there is a 2 piece option?

nope. and due to the elliptical taper, I doubt there ever will be.

Agreed. Granted I haven't used either in a game, but in the store I felt more impressed by the SE16 to the S17. The S17 just doesn't feel very solid to me. I'm using a Synergy ST and it gave me a similar impression. It's holding up fairly well, but it just doesn't feel as solid as the SE16 did in my hands. Once the ST goes I think the SE16 is next on my list, though I might give a Bauer P92 or Warrior Draper a whirl instead of Easton.

I apologize for changing the direction of the discussion. I've used Eastons in the past but I currently favor the One 95 one piece with a left hand P92 (i.e. Naslund) curve. I've heard quite a bit about the S17 getting soft fast compared to the One 95 but I'd still like to try the stick out and see how it feels. How is the durability of the S17? I don't play very often so I'm sure it will last a decent amount of time for me. Also, any ideas which curve is closest to the Naslund P92? I'm kind of stuck between the Drury and Sakic and they both seem pretty close but I can't tell. Any help would be appreciated.
