Muck and Grind 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 Hey all,Pretty basic question. Aside from smell, torn palms, and aesthetics (ie. colour, style) when should gloves be replaced?I'm currently using a pair of retail Fury 9125 gloves. The palms have surprisingly held up fine, but the protective outer part of the thumb is feeling kind of "mushy". Also, I took a slash off the faceoff and the side of my hand (the edge part of the hand at the pinky) really felt the stick. The wrist cuffs and fingers are fine, but that said does the protective foam degrade after a certain number of years? Thanks.
Rustpot 1 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 Ha, you're looking for excuses to buy more gloves. Just buy some new gloves, worry about "why" later. In all seriousness, foams will break down. If you feel or even think you might need to replace them, then you probably should.
Warriorsdman 1 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 I'm not sure how well you will fit in here... None of the guys here think before they make purchases -- if it looks good, then go for it.As rustpot stated, it would be a good idea to replace them. It doesn't have to be an expensive glove purchase like some of us make, there are some great protective gloves out there for fair prices.

TBLfan 25 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 Gloves should be replaced every icetime.
Muck and Grind 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 lol. Ya, maybe I don't really fit in here since I'd rather keep my existing pair than go out and get some new bling....It's been a little while since I've played, but since when did "looking good on the ice" mean having your gloves match the decals on your stick and the laces on your skates?Maybe after a couple of more hacks and slashes in the beer league will convince me to get a new pair. Thanks All! GrafPro55 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 Getting lumbered in beer league? If people are slashing your hands in beer league, your gloves should be on the ice. Instead of buying new gloves, buy a really heavy wooden stick. Or spear him in the neck. Let them know you mean business. Ha.
JohnnyCanuck 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 +1 to what GrafPro55 said!Random slashes etc happen though and maybe do not warrant a pummelling :DBasically I replace gloves once your mobility gets too high (Sloppy on your hands) or the seams where the protected areas start to open up leaving sft spots would be my advice.Oh, and it never hurts to have more pairs of gloves than you could ever use ;)
