Tackla 5000 Air vs. 9000

Recommended Posts

What's the difference? i tried the search function but didn't really come up with what i'm looking for. Did the 9000 replace the 5000? Anyone care to give me a brief summary of the differences. Thanks and go Blues!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but no, the 9000 does not replace the 5000. They are just different products. I think the difference is the amount of padding in them. 9000 would be for a higher level of play. But the 5000s are supposed to be incredibly lightweight, but also very protective.

I have the Tackla girdle and love it. They make a great product.

Not to hijack, but after significant searching I am still confused by all the Tackla models. Here are a couple questions I am hoping someone can answer.

Are there any big differences between the 5000 and 5000 air? 9000z and 9000?

Also, I'm assuming that if I order from hockeymonkey it will be made overseas and if I order form the the hockey shop it will be canadian made. If this is incorrect please let me know.

I have no idea, but I have the Tackla 9000 Air and they come with the zipper. I'm not sure if they 9000's do?

I'm guessing the 5000 is a different pant, a bit less bulky

My best guess with the Air 9000z and Air 9000 is the inclusion/exclusion of a zipper

5000 is a 2 piece pant, 9000 1 piece.

That's it? does the 5000 Air have zipper? I'm guessing no since no "z". Less padding/protection on the 5000? While we're on the topic, where does the 951 fall?

Your right. I have the 9000's though and despite the extra padding they have perfect mobility, i love them. I am never buying anything but tackla pants again. Nothing is even close.

951 is their Made in Thailand price point pant isn't it?

nvm, looks like the Canadian 951s are made in Canada as well judging from the Canadian flag on them.

There are multiple models: the regular 5000, the 5000x pro, the 9000 Air, and the 9000 ACS.

The 5000xpro is the two piece, top level pant.

The 9000 Air is the US pant and the 9000 ACS is the Canadian pant (mislabeled 9000 Pro below).

I have no clue if there is a difference between the US and Canadian 5000 pants.

My Tackla 9000 Air (zippered) are made in Thailand.

My Graf 7000 JR in size 54 are made in Canada. Other than the blue interior (Tackla) and different logos, the pants seem fairly identical.

How do the 9000's score protective wise? I'm hoping they are similar to the V10's, which were highly recommended for max padding. I've owned tackla's before and would love to get another pair but.
