Grip on sticks. Do all newer sticks have a little grip?

Recommended Posts

The Easton S17 non-grip felt a lot griper than I would have thought. It feels like the stick has ~10-15 percent grip. Is this a new thing or is it my imagination?

I have a pro stock s17 and se16 so i might not be the best judge but I agree with the op. While the grip versions are clearly grippy, it seems that even the non grip have a slight tackiness to them.

It's the coating, depending on the gloves you have it might feel stickier than others... and I don't mean having a grip palm.

I was in the store and just using my bare hand. I stayed away from non grip years ago when the grip sticks came out. Now I'm wondering if I should just buy the non-grip s17(only one the store has...). The only reason this is even an issue is I need(equipment whore) a stick and the store only has non-grip s17's in stock :(

I hate non-grip but when I tried the s17 in the store it felt.... workable. Thoughts?

Note: If it was a 100 dollar stick I would just buy it but 300dollars?

Take you gloves to the store next time. My one95 is a light-grip stick and with certain gloves it is slicker than it is with my bare hands.

No, all newer sticks do not have grip

Personally I prefer clear non-grip shaft for maneuverability when stick handling. The SE16 grip felt pretty light to me in the store (more so than what was on the SE) so the amount of grip definitely varies, even within the same brand (other examples are the various RBK and Warrior grips / textures). As TBL said, bring your gloves and see what feels right.

Your right. I took my gloves in and they made the stick feel slick. Guess I'll wait for the grip stick s17. Thanks
