Law Goalie 147 Report post Posted July 19, 2009 As a goalie -- one the last games of the season, with no hope of the playoffs ourselves, we had a chance to put a team from Quebec out. Standard tight-game scenario ensues. With about a minute and a half left, we took a stupid penalty in their zone. As soon as they won the draw and started out of the zone, their goalie headed for the bench. We held the line; they dumped it in. As soon as I touched the puck and looked for the clear, they all threw themselves at the boards to block the rim - leaving the middle of the ice wide open. I was really just trying to put it through the space and get it deep, but the damn thing went right down the middle. As a player -- many years later, skating out in my first league game, I took a long outlet pass on my off-wing during a bad line-change, went down the board, cut into the middle, and threw a full-sweep wrist-shot through the defenceman's legs and up over the goalie's shoulder. I didn't know whether to celebrate or apologise.
SuperMan3 1 Report post Posted July 19, 2009 My first goal was a classic grinder goal, work hard in front of the net, got position, and banged in a rebound to tie the game 2-2, we lost the game 4-2 but I'll never forget it.
shotty 7 Report post Posted July 19, 2009 we had a guy in our beer league get his first point ever. The poor guy should be painted orange and wear a pointy helmet because he can barely move. It was the funniest thing because he kept yelling at the ref from the bench to make sure he credited him for the assist. I can see getting excited about your first point (if your 8), but a grown man (we are talking late 20's - early 30's), thats a little different. We are not even sure how he got it, we think the puck may have acidently hit his stick and deflected. At least he was happy.a guy i played with a few seasons ago was similar. he'd scream his number after a goal just to make sure the refs gave him credit... then (so he says) he'd get a penalty later on in the game to confirm with the scorekeeper. hahaha. mickz 107 Report post Posted July 19, 2009 My first goal was disallowed. I was screening the goalie in front, my teammate takes a shot and the puck ends up between the goalies' skates. I turn around and whacked at it and scored a goal. The refs waved it off because apparently I was in the crease.A few games later I was on a two on none rush with my teammate. He fed me the puck at the last second and I tapped it in while falling down and into the boards.
Leafsrule16 5 Report post Posted July 19, 2009 Everyone has these big heroic goal stories. The only thing i really remember great was the fact that i scored it on a friend of mine in atom house league.
Law Goalie 147 Report post Posted July 20, 2009 I only remember mine with 'heroic' clarity because I didn't score a goal until I was 14, and not again for over a decade. :)Oh, and the fact that I have five total in my entire life.

Jarick 5 Report post Posted July 20, 2009 Our goalie got his first goal a couple years ago, he dumped the puck all the way down the ice on a PK (side note, he was an excellent stickhandler and had a better shot than anyone else on the team despite never skating out), other goalie went out of his crease to stop the puck behind the net for his defenseman who popped it off the back of his pants and in the goal, Steve Smith style.I'm sure I've told this before when we did this thread, but my first goal was not until squirts, we were scrimmaging against a younger team for some reason. I was a complete plug, couldn't skate, stickhandle, or shoot, but was bigger than everyone else, so my only job was to lay hits and come off the ice (basically Derek Boogaard). One shift a kid took a shot and it rang off my cage and bounced out to center ice. I think everyone assumed I was hurt so everyone stood up, but I just skated it down and into the empty net. Pretty pathetic, but that was my only goal in playing from about 2 years old to 12.As an adult, first goal was a garbage goal in a pickup game, trailed the play and followed to the net, jammed it home. First league goal I think was a wrist/snap shot that bounced off a defender and in. I have scored a lot of pretty goals since, but boy it took a while. stahl7639 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2009 My first goal came in my first season of adult C league hockey. I was crowding the net and got a nice shot on a rebound and it went right over the goalies glove. My second goal came seconds later, on the very next shot of the game. I beat the goalie 5 hole. It was, without a doubt, the best game of hockey I have ever played.
mrruin 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2009 My first ever goal came just two seasons ago in my clubs very first game ever! Playing as a Dman just starting hockey at 29 that was quite a special moment for me. I still have the puck at home since it was a "historic" moment for our hockey club ;) Anyway, the goal was a low wrist shot from the point that got deflected by an opposing Dman through the goalies 5hole and into the net. We even won the game 5-2. Good times, good memories.

Aussie Joe 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2009 Complete garbage goal. Carrying the puck up my left wing, cut into the middle just as I crossed the blue line, D followed and I snapped the puck low and hard, through his legs, to the low right hand side of the goals. The goalie dropped, poked the puck away. But it didn't go sidewards, it went up, hit the top post and went in.
WSjo22 1 Report post Posted July 23, 2009 I don't remember my first goal from when I was little but I'll always remember my first goal on a slap shot from the point..... Growing up my weakest part of my game was my slap shot and when I started playing again I worked very hard on my slapper. We were playing in a playoff game and we're tied with like 5-6 mins left in the game and I got the puck at the point of a draw and took one step and fired a slapper top shelf glove side before the goalie could even move..... Sweetest moment of my sports career lol
farhanshak 1 Report post Posted September 7, 2009 hmm believe it or not, i actually remember my first shinny goal, my first league goal, and my first practice goal...first shinny goal: skated the puck in from the blue line, passed it to the player standing at the O blueline who skated it in, i went to the net (didnt crash the crease or anything) with my stick on the ice, and tipped his pass back to me in fivehole...pretty sweet.First Practice Goal: was on the breakaway drill...skated in from center ice and roof daddied it glove side on the goalie...then did it again when my turn came up as the goalie jokingly told me i couldnt do it again lol...First game goal: we were the worst team in the league/division playing against a team that always played dirty against us and made fun of us...it was a tight game 4-4 tie until i and my winger on the ice decided that we had to win lol. Dumped the puck, skated to the net and my winger went into the board and battled for the puck. sent the puck out to me in front of the net. first shot goalie saved, and as the rebound landed right on my stick...roof daddy from the top of the crease. this goal was scored with 24 seconds left in the game :D and the best part about it was everyone had thier family and kids out to this game (my gf wasnt there as she was fighting a cold go figure lol) so it was awesome to win it like that...we had close to 50-75 ppl there i think...(just so everyone knows, this was a team effort, not taking credit for the win)btw, we also won the championship that year. worst team in the league to winning it all =) thank god everyone makes the playoffs =)
