p89 blake clone

Recommended Posts

I just tried out my friend's vapor XX today and initially I thought it would be too stiff for me (102 flex cut down at least 2 inches) but that thing is just a catapult for slapshots. I digress, however. Anyway, I looked up the pattern number and it read p89 and so when I searched the pattern db, I realized that it's not a retail curve, much to my surmise. It is available on the bauer ID website under the name "blake" though.

Does anyone know if there is a clone of the blade from a different manufacturer like warrior? According to bauer, it's a mid curve, lie 6 (more like a lie 5.5), slightly open and has a square toe. It's kind of an iginla from easton but it's not as short.

Any help would be great!

you can always try calling around any store that had a NikeID computer display. Until about 2 weeks ago the display box had all the ID blade curves both left and right and some JR ones for you to see first hand. When the machines became defunct most shops put the blades on the rack and probably for cheap. So that might help besides trying to find a similar clone blade.

sweet, thanks guys! I'm probably going to replace my dolomite2 draper for a vanek/weight as soon as it breaks. There's a fracture on the backhand side and suprisingly the blade still shoots well. I don't have a back hand so it's all good! haha

Thanks, just got home from work. I actually had to look up the new name, I catch too much flak for using old names all the time.

I just noticed something though....the weight/vanek is a lie 4.5 (which usually means lie 5). That's really odd because when I compared my friend's blade to my sakic, I distinctly remember them being the same in terms of lie.

It's about 5.25 lie. I just checked it against a couple Forsbergs and it's a little higher, but not substantially so.

I stopped by cyclone taylor today and much to my disappointment, the display blades from the bauer ID display were packed up and shipped back to bauer.

It also seems that the weight/vanek isn't all that popular over here in Vancouver. I think that's why they have leftover weight and robitaille blades are left over at thehockeyshop in Surrey.

Heads up for MN guys, Westwood in Bloomington is selling the shafts and blades, most of the shafts are gone but still some blades.

Bloomington HockeyGiant also still has all the blades (excluding ones employees nabbed), they havent made it on the shelf yet but if you ask real nicely to someone they might go looking for you. SR shafts are gone entirely, int and jr ones around though...

I recently tried this pattern and now I'm hooked. I used to used the PM9/Zetterberg pattern, but it never felt great.

Just a follow up question for the gurus.

Is there any change to the lie for this pattern?

The stick I am using now is a XXXX 77 flex.

I figure it would be good to know before I order the stick.

Thanks in advance
