s17 skate

anyone who is wearing these/tried them on/knows anything about them can you give some insite about them? are they improved from previous easton skates?..what is the fit like?..are they a deep boot?

Easton has suppositly put reinforcement on the outside glued on parts so they don't separate after several months of use. Wasn't really an issue for the integrity of the skate but made them look very shabby after very heavy use. Otherwise it's still a composite boot with a holder and runner with a new name branded on it . Still a pretty decent skate but still nowhere near as popular as the Bauer skates.

S17 is very similar to S15 prostocks that were popping up lately - usual for S15 painpoints were fixed: the toe is covered, the area next to toebox on the outside of the skate that used to rip is also covered with rubber, double stitching + reinforced leather to composit joints etc

other then that we outlined above pretty much the same skate - decent skate, in my opinion not as good as One95

Not really.

The S17 is Easton's top skate, and the One95's are Bauer's top skate. Thus the basis for comparison.

mainly because this was my skate progression - from S15 to One95

JR's review of One95 also draw some parallels.

fit was discussed multiple times - both are quite high volume (One95 a bit more then S15), wide forefoot & narrow heel with good heel lock.

Not implying. 98% same fit.

Thanks for pointing out about the rubber covering on the toe SolarWind, completely forget about that improvement. I guess only time will tell which skate has the better durability. Neither Bauer or Easton seem to have a good track record with their performance models the last few years. The Vapors seem to hold out pretty well according to sources close to me.
