Flopping Tounges/ White Felt tounges

Recommended Posts

Hi...

I got my new Bauer X60 skates.

I want to know how to "flop the tounges".

I tried bending them down and they just won't stay.

There has to be a trick on how to do it.

Please Reply

Second thing.

My X60 skates are size 8.5

I want white felt tounges like on the One95s

I know that i can get them on EastWesthockey.com

I would like them so i can flop them so they are big enough but not too big.

and how do i install them?

Thanks

everyone had different method.....

some soak water and tie it down

some remove plastic inside

some buy longer tongues

just bend it how you like it and clamp/tape/tie down couple days

Stock One95s do not have white FELT tongues. Those are an option on customs. They don't work for everyone as they are thicker tongues (didn't work too good for my custom XXXXs but perfect on my custom One95s. The last is different on each model)

Regarding white felt tounges, is there any advantage to them, other than if you like the way they look?

Thicker white felt tongues can help alleviate lace bite and also provide a little more protection on shots. I don't know whether or not they are more protective than the tongues with the plastic inserts because I have never had the custom tongues.

In my case yes. The make my One95s a little shallower and give me perfect wrap

Custom felt tongues also may have the same plastic inserts like in case with my custom XXXXs and One95s

i got white tongues on my 60s.

the eastwest tongues were pretty stiff so it took a while for the flop to look natural...when i wasnt playing i tied the laces around the skate on the flopped tongues so they would stay. i also soaked some hot water on them. it worked after about 2 days.

and i liked the white felt tongues because unlike the tongues on the 60s...the material doesnt rip off and show the foam stuff on the inside. i had my 60s for about 2 days before it started ripping. the white felt tongues dont have this problem. the felt will peel but nothing noticeable.

edit: i also took mine to a shoe repair place and they threw em on fine. the guy said he couldnt unstitch the retail tongues then stitch the EWH tongues on because it was too tight a space...so he cut the original tongues and stitched + glued the EWH tongues onto that little stub. he did a really good job. it feels basically like it came that way and you cant see the area where he did the stitching.
