Easton LPS2 runners and their ability to annoy me.

Recommended Posts

So im on my second par of S15's, first ones fell apart within a few months, now this second pair is pissing me off moreso than the first.

1. They feel retardedly different than the first pair even though theyre the exact same size, basically my skating has gone kaput.

2. The runners keep coming loose, doesnt matter how many times i tighten them they keep coming loose and im able to move them in and out of the holder. this happened to the first pair as well, but not to this extent.

I love these skates but theyve been nothing but problems. Now im in no way close to the store i bought them from which is why im asking this here otherwise id go straight to the store for an answer. I bought them at Hockey Experts in Vaughan and they were wicked with replacing my first pair, no questions asked but would they do anything about the LPS2 runners?

Switch the towers out for Tuuk LS2's.

Or invest in the S17's with Tuuks. Same fit, just an updated model.

id love to switch to the tuuks, but not at my expense.

If im paying $700 after tax(this was before the price went down) i expect these things to give me little to no problems, especially a fool proof thing like the damn runner.

This is the 3rd time ive had problems with top of the line Easton skates, had the 1300's replaced when they first came out, and now these.

So what can i really do? Contact easton and complain?

Its probably too late now if you have used the skates but what I have done in the past is take the skates to my LHS and get the to switch out the easton holders and steel for tuuks and ask if they will take the easton holder and steel for exchange for the cost of the new ls steel. My lhs has been very good about this and has done it twice for me. but then agian it was on brand new skates

More often than not you could trade in and pay the difference. Probably in the neighborhood of $30 to $50. I'm in S15's with Tuuks right now, and trust me, the switch is worth it.

Check to see if the nuts/bolt were overtightened by someone. If overtightened the hardware can 'sink" into the plastic and the runners will be loose. If so, get a stainless washer ($0.15) and put it on the screw side. That should fix it by taking up the slack.

I've never seen a perpetually loose Easton blade just happen without being caused by overtightening. BTW, overtightening can do the same thing to Tuuks.

I have always liked Easton's boots, but their holders are brutal. Some people say that they have never had a problem, but I have had the complete opposite experience. The Razor Bladz holders were fragile at best. Switch to tuuk's and don't look back.

I'm the total opposite. Never had problems with the Razor blades on five different pairs of Easton skates. I've owned the Easton Airs, Synergy,900's,1100's, the 1300's, and Stealth S-11's. Never a problem with any of the holders or blades or had the skates fall apart on me. I have heard a lot of horror stories about Easton skates though and don't doubt your word. For me Eastons have worked out very well. Love the fit and on ice performance and durability has been very good. Still have the 1300's and only have a few scuffs overwise still in great shape. The S-11's are working out well but haven't worn them as much because the fit is just slightly different and still adjusting to them.
