Bunga Pads

Recommended Posts

Just a quick plug. About a year and a half ago, I took a shot off the inside of my ankle. It was only painful when I had my skate on, but it didn't seem to go away over time the way those ankle stingers normally do. After a while, I noticed that a little notch had formed on my ankle. At that point, skating was pretty painful. I cut up some foam from an old pair of hockey pants and made makeshift comfort pads, but they didn't really do the job. Finally, after a year and a half of skating in pain, I ordered the Bunga Pad ankle sock which has a gel disk on both the inner and outer ankle. The thing feels amazing and is thin enough to fit comfortably inside my boot.

tl;dr: If you've got a nagging "pressure-point" ankle injury, buy a Bunga Pad. They make all sorts of pads for other areas of the foot as well (including one to prevent lacebite).

Here's the one I ordered: http://www.bungapads.com/store.cfm/ses_/de...eolar%20Sleeve/

Same old Easton socks I've always worn. The pad does add volume for sure, but I don't mind it. Actually, I kind of like the snug fit... the only problem is that it makes my other skate feel loose in comparison.

Since it has padding on both sides of the ankle and I only need it on the inside, I may reduce the volume a bit by cutting out the outside pad. But, like I said, I don't mind it much at all.

Edit - And yes, I wear it inside the Easton sock.

I will agree with Mgo. I had been having some pain on the top of my foot/front of my ankle, and nothing seemed to recitfy the situation. Until I tried Bunga sleeve. It works wonders. Great for lacebite.

I recently got the individual disks (comes as a pair) that you can place anywhere inside the boot. I placed it above the outside of my right ankle on my one95 and the pain is gone. I highly recommend this.

I just ordered some discs for the outside of my left ankle. It's been painful lately, hopefully these will do the trick.

Just went to buy the lace pads and they want $23 to ship to Cdn, I won't pay more to ship than the cost of the item. I quess I will continue with my homemade pads.

Call. I live in Canada and I was willing to pay the shipping. They ended up calling me basically saying no way they will charge me that much for shipping. I think he ended up putting them in one box or somehting and cut the shipping in half.

Thanks, I was just about to call and ask about the cost.

Called Bunga, couldn't do much better on the shipping price, but the guy I talked to was super helpful, really good guy, searched for stores in Calgary that carried the pads and directed me there.

BTW, I saw more than a few players who had them drying in their stalls in the Kings locker room when I got a tour earlier this season.
