Custom Gloves

As far as protection, does a lock thumb or anything else (plastic over the foam, etc.) come standard on the PPFs?

I believe so - IMO you get more with eagles. Seems to me warrior just tries to justify price with looks while cutting features like stitched logos, plastic inserts, and the lock thumb. You absolutely should not pay even more for that on a top end ~$200 glove when it's standard on a number of gloves half the price. Sure the warriors look fantastic and play well, but eagles are the total package. Even then I think it's hard to justify. However, if you are going to pay, you may as well get everything IMO and I believe eagles provide that more than Warriors.

My 2 cents.

Warrior puts plastic inserts on the Bully and Bonafide gloves, their import models which are great $ values at retail. The Franchise does not come with plastic inserts at retail for $$$$ more! Eagle PPF has plastic inserts as a stock part of the glove.

I ordered PPFs way back with all the HD foams, digital palm, mesh gussets and that stuff but I also ordered some custom Franchises with plastic inserts and lock thumb. I'm gonna be honest with you, I prefer my Warriors of the PPFs any day and I absolutely LOVED my Eagles. The only thing I don't like about the Franchises are the non-embroidered logos. Either way it comes down to personal preference and you can't go wrong with either

Edit: oops, didn't see your last post :o

I love the feel of my NB Pro 4 Rolls (13"). Do the PPF's fit anything like them? I'm not a huge fan of tight gloves (One95), and I like a loose cuff, but I really don't know much about gloves, especially Eagle (Which I probably should), but I'm considering custom.

Oh, and I've worn AK27 gloves, and wasn't fond of them (Both 13" and 14")

I have both. The 4 rolls have move volume than the PPFs. However they are not tight like the One95s. PPFs are between the 4 roll and the vapor40. The cuff is loose. If by feel you mean palm then there is a difference. The 4 roll palm is thicker than the MSH2 palm on the PPFs.

Hey guys I'm trying to order custom ppfs through my lhs that have a cuff like halfmoonyotes maroon/gold eagles on page 76 of the custom glove gallery. However eagle doesn't seem to want to make them with the cuff in separate pieces like that. Any suggestions on how to go about having it done? Thanks.

If you like Bauer Pro 4-rolls you will probably also like PPF as they are similar in fit (the Bauers being wider/roomier as noted above). PPF is still a traditional loose fit glove, just not quite as open as the Bauers. Both are really top-notch gloves and you can't go wrong as long as the price works for you.

PPF gloves are not at all similar in fit to the 4 rolls. They are WAY tighter.

Yes, the PPF's are definitely a tighter fitting glove. I found that the padding on the back of your hands in the 4 rolls is a lot softer and more comfortable than the PPF's. That being said I haven't used my 4 rolls once since I got the PPF's. The Eagles are much nicer in my opinion. The MSH2 palm is just awesome.

I'm using my 4 rolls like training gloves now for stick/puck workouts. The PPFs are the game gloves.

Planning to shell out and order a pair of custom Eagles tomorrow. I'm bringing in my existing pair and hopefully the shop can help me find a combo that will be identical to my current set up.

I THINK what I have right now are Eagle Custom Pros with:

- Tufftek

- 13"?

- Plastic Inserts

- Mesh Gussets

- Digital Palms

- There's some Clarino on the glove too, not sure if that's stock

The cuffs a bit different compared to what I have now and it looks like the EAGLE font on my cuffs are bigger. I can request for those two options?

Am I correct about my gloves being custom pros or could they be another model? I'm also debating if I should go with MSH2 or Digital palms. I've been using a regular Dolomite for over a year now and there has been minimal wear on my palms. I took my brand new Dolomite Nipple Grip out to a Stick & Puck yesterday and a 1.5cm rip appeared on the palm of my lower hand. I wonder if it was a coincidence or not, if I'm paying $220+ for a pair of gloves I want them to last.

I was thinking the same print for custom gloves. NHL print is what you want to ask for on the eagle logo i think. Eagle gloves with NHL Print

I'm not sure about the cuff options you have but I'm sure there is cuff extension/ shortening.

Hey thanks, I'll make sure to request that.

Also, does anybody know what the triangular piece right above the Eagle logo on the thumb locks are called?

Here are pics of gloves that have it:

Not sure if that little piece is going to make a difference but if I'm paying top dollar for customs I want every detail down to spec.

Why did you watermark your pix?

Because I've had people steal pictures claiming it to be theirs and/or use my pictures for their eBay auctions.

I guess I'll just have to get my cement blocks in a pair of PPF's to see how I like them. I don't mind a snug glove, but the tightness of something like the One95 I do not like (I have a cheapo pair of Vapor V's for roller hockey, I even like the fit of those). And I like a loose cuff, for the most part.

Next question.

Lets talk about hockey gloves and not about what I do with my own pictures.

if I'm thinking what you're thinking (the piece above the beak of the nose), it just for looks- not lock thumb or anything.

I went to my LHS today to order my Eagles and it was ALOT more complicated than what they made it sound over the phone. I didn't get the name of the guy I originally spoke to over the phone but he said I can order any glove Eagle has made in the past.

The manager cringes right away when I told him I wanted straight back rolls and he says I can only order gloves Eagle currently sells with angled back rolls like X72 and PPF.

He took pictures of my gloves and a list of specs to send to the Eagle rep to see if all my options can be done. Apparently Eagle's customization options became more limited ever since being purchased by Vaughn.

The specs I ended up going with:

- Custom Pro

- Black Tufftek, Yellow logo, Red Binding (mid-late 90's Canuck colors), plastic inserts

- MSH2 palms, mesh gussets between fingers (black, possibly white), clarino gussets on the outside of the index and pinky

- No Eagle logo on the 4th back roll

- One piece cuff, split fingers

- Name embroidered on cuff

The manager straight out said I most likely won't get all my demands... but we'll see what the local Eagle rep says first. If I'm paying top dollar for a glove I don't want to compromise much, if at all. I might as well buy a pair of retail gloves if my options are unavailable.

Yeah, I got the same kind of response about one of my requests, specifically having my cuff split on the bottom. Apparently now they cannot do options that were available on older models, so they're saying I can't get my cuff like that because since they don't produce CP94's anymore they don't have any of the patterns, etc. It's minor, so I'll live. Kind of annoying though.

My final specs ended up being:

-PPF 14" (Design #4)

-Black Tufftek with baby blue accents

-No model number

-MSH2 palm

-Mesh gussets

-Shortened underside cuff .5 inch

-Name embroidered on cuff

I was debating whether my gloves were Custom Pros or CP94s. When I asked my LHS over the phone they said CP94s can still be ordered and even quoted me a base price of $219.99CAN. We'll see what happens with my order in the next few days.
