Durable two peice

Recommended Posts

Hey... Looking at possibly getting a two peice stick in the near future. right now i use a '08 Reebok 4k and a 7k sick kick both OPS in the modano curve. I play both roller and ice and the inline rink we play at is murderous on blades. The 4k has held up pretty well with tape and gluing and the 7k seems to look like its not going to last nearly as long..

Another thing, for some reason i can not get a wrist shot off at all with the 7k; slapshots and backhand shots are fine. On the other hand, i have no shooting issues with the 4k. Could it be that the blade on the 7k is freakin huge compared to the 4k?

So yeah, any suggestions would be great.

personally would go for the Z-Bubble/S15 with a wood blade but my Z currently has a hybrid and my S15 has an ST comp blade (all Forsberg patterns). but the Z with a woodie 4 me was golden!!

I had durability issues in mine. First shaft snapped right in half in the kickpoint area. This one was only about one month old. I then got another one and this time I was checked into the net, didn't hit the post very hard, but it still snapped in half about 6 inches from where i keep my upper hand. All in one week. But it did kick and shoot very well while they were still in one piece!

Maybe I've just been lucky, but the Synergy II shaft has been a tank for me. I've had it for 2 years now. I've broken a few blades and It is somewhat whippier than before, but otherwise it's still going strong.

Like everyone says, Dolomites and Ultra Lites seem to be the best in terms of durability for tapered and standard. I never could use the Easton standard tapers as they were always too stiff, but I'll be getting a One95 shaft for dryland stuff soon.

Keep in mind that One95 senior shafts are ~54" which is really long for a standard shaft since standard blades add a good 2" in length compared to tapered. So, the shaft will be stiffer as a result. If you're going for a low flex in a One95 I would recommend that you buy an intermediate 67 flex instead of their 77 which will be more like an 85+ after cutting.

I like my One95 but if I could I would switch my 77 flex for a 67

Haven't tried the one95, but want to get one (as soon as I break enough sticks to get permission from my wife!)

If you're looking for something that's cheaper, Hockeygiant has TPS Rubber tapered shafts for like 42 bucks. Mine have been great.

Yeah, that's my plan. I never really saw One90 shafts anywhere so I didn't get to see how stiff or not they were, but every standard taper shaft I've used seemed too stiff (even mid flex CCM/Rbk and 70/75 flex Eastons).

Oddly enough the One95 OPS 77 flex list the flex when cut down to my preferred height (an inch below the nose in shoes) as about 95 flex.

Easton Synergy ST / Ultra-Lite. I haven't been able to break or mush out either of these.

Whoa... Just got back from pickup and snapped my ST shaft. lol

Ended up with a Easton Synergy ST with a Easton ABS street blade zetterberg curve

took it out on dry land for a while.. that blade is pretty heavy but otherwise i like the stick so far. I need to get used to shooting with it.. Too bad the jerks at the rink told us we were trespassing and needed helmets (its a city owned outdoor rink & we didn't feel helmets were needed to stand 15 feet from the net and take shots, but its cool.) Can't wait to try it with a composite blade.

Was thinking about picking up an AK27, but my choices at the LHS were fairly limited - the easton i got, one90, rbk 4k sick kick, and the johnson.
