First question with flexlites is. Do you have wide feet? Flexlites are quite a wide skate, not as many places sell them as they don't tend to fit as many people as other skates do.

i tried them today and really liked em, they are softer and more flexible so you get a more natural movement...

Im actually considaring them over the one95's, for the price, you cant beat it...

So is the fit similar to RBK skates, wide in the forefoot but narrow in the heel instead and with the same volume as RBK's?

If it is, flexlites is my dream come true.

From what I know flexlites are about the highest volume skate you can get, so at a guess I'd be saying more volume than reeboks.

I think it is the other way around

The volume of the Flexlites are even more impressive than their width. The Flexlites are for a very small minority of foot shapes.

I think they fit a larger segment of the population than most think..I would assume more people fit into a Flexlite "D" width than a Graf 703.

my only concern with these is that unlike all the other pro grade skates, they allow for allot of foot movement, skates like x60's and one95's feel like you are skating in a cast, a light cast mind you...

Im 230 pounds so i wonder is the boot will wear out quick, they are already very flexible out the box, they feel more like a old school skate and in the store anyway, they feel great, now how does that translate to ice....

I've been skating in my Flexlite 10's (in cowlings) for two years now, and they're only a little softer; I'm 220.

I hear you, in the end, the price is almost half price, i cant really justify 700+ dollars for skates...

just want to clarify, when you guys say "volume" in terms of skates, do you guys mean the heel has a deeper pocket therefore allowing the foot to sink in more into the boot? please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks

wow good question, from what i felt, yes your foot seems to be more deep into the boot, like you get wrap from the top of the skate more like a running shoe...

I had the flexlite 12s (loved them) and just recently purchased the 4.0 "pros" and I dont have the widest foot. I felt they gave me great support and i loved the extra "flexiness" of the skate. I was definitely able to maneuver better as well while skating. Not to mention they are super light. I also bought these skates 1/2 size smaller then other bauers i've had, just what I felt best with in the store. I know these are made for wide feet but I love them none the less. Going with $600 skates that are super stiff aren't always the answer. I never had to bake either one of my flexlites either.

You probably could get custom Flexlites at the retail price for X60s and have added stiffness built into the skate.

I dont think that is correct. From what I understand, most skates are relatively alike in how the heel fits into the boot (not factoring things like lifts in the footbed). In otherwords, the heel itself isnt deeper in the boot. The difference is in the distance from the inside bottom of the boot to the eyelets. If the eyelets are further away from the footbed and heel pocket, that will create more volume or space in the boot.

I need a wide reasonably deep skate. I tried on the Flexlite 4.0, and they didn't have enough volume for me.

Obviously your foot may not be quite as deep as mine, but here is my skate trying oddessy, and I couldn't be happier now..

That surprises me. I had the 1500's and I was baking bread (as JR says). I guess the SE line has more volume. I found that the Eastons on the whole werent very deep at all. My S15's arent deep enough for me, but I have had no adverse issues yet. it was the only skate that i could find to fit me width wise, so I have to just deal with the lack of volume.

But hey....if the skate works for you, theh that is all that matters. Glad you finally found a skate that you like.

A skate having more width will seem deeper as well as your foot will sit a little lower in it. The S15 killed my feet, but the SE line were perfect.

I think the One55 had more volume, but were not wide enough. The Flexlite were wide enough but depth was the issue with me

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for correcting me.

oh so theres 2 versions, the 4.0 and the 4.0PRO, that must be it then, im guessing i tried the regulars because they felt soft...

The 4.0 were $349 at my LHS in Laurel, I don't believe they had the pro

I thought the 4.0 Pro is a Europe/custom order skate only.

Yeah TBL.. I thought the same as well

How many of you have used clear protect-a-toe to stiffen or protect a skate? I'm not talking about on the toe caps but the rest of the skate?

so i just got a pair of the Flexlite 4.0 last week and used them for the 1st time on Sunday. My quick impressions were that they were very lite yet plenty stiff. I don't have the widest foot and the boot still fit quite nicely. The only real diff i could tell between my S9's and the Flexlites was there seemed to bee a little more room in the toe cap area.
