Glove Cleaning Question

Recommended Posts

So I was shootng, and I developed a big ass blister on the top of the palm of my hand (below my pinky). Stupid me keeps playing and eventually it breaks and a little blood gets onto my palm (about the size of a penny/nickel). Granted this was a few months ago, can I clean them so they are sellable? It wasnt a lot of blood, but I just want to be safe. Would the ozone machine work? Can I throw them into the wash with a little bleach? Thanks!

Even if you had a blood borne disease it would be long dead, along with any living blood cells. Besides being visually unappealing there is most likely no harm besides the usual bacteria that live in nasty old glove palms. I would try using a bleach pen on the spot to start if you want to get the color stain out. Washing the whole gloves in bleach, even diluted, could bleach out the whole glove.

I realize anyone buying used gloves is rolling the dice. That said, how would you feel if you bought a pair from someone who didn't disclose that they'd cleaned up a bloody blister pop stain? I'd almost feel better buying used gloves with the blood stain. At least that way I'd know what I was buying.

My $0.02.

I wash my gloves in the washer about every 2 weeks and have had my gloves for about 2 years. I haven't had any problems until recently. Some of the seams are starting to break. I don't think washing the gloves once should be a problem. I wash them in warm water and air dry them.

Good luck

I've bought a couple of pairs of used gloves recently. do you guys have any advice on how I can clean them up so I can wear them?

Yeah, I usually use a tide pen on my gloves or some hydrogen peroxide/alcohol on a q-tip. But be REALLY careful not to apply the peroxide on a colored part of the glove as it will bleach that part out if you put too much.

I'll give that a try. one used pair that I had re-palmed just got back from the shop. they stunk like very few gloves I've ever seen even after the new palm was installed so I tossed them in the washer and now they're air-drying. the gloves are MIA Franchises in Pittsburgh colors. I plan to take the Tide pen to the white tufftek stripes only.
