What I usually tell customers is that if you have success with a certain skate, then stick with it.

Plus it's gonna be a bitch putting rivets into that graphite holder unless you have a pneumatic riveter...

Remember,

Just because a skate is light, doesn't make it the greatest thing since sliced bread. A skate that fits your foot will make you perform better.

In no way am I saying the Easton skate is bad. I am saying, make sure you try it on and it fits as well or better than your current skates.

Weight isn't everything...

Yes, it is important, but fit it much more important...

I am very jealous of people that can stick with a skate.. still searching for that magic skate that "works" for me... :)

also on the graphite situation... all the guys around here are scared to death of the synergy skate as far as people potentially wanting new holders. I can't say I blame them at all, would you want to fubar a $500 pair of skates because of a bad rivet or drilljob? yipes...

Well, at least brands...

I've made kids cry when they have this monstrous foot and want to get Vapor XXs...

They can be drilled, no problem. QUestion is the rivets. I honestly wouldn't know unless I experiment - theoretically I can find an old pair of skates and reverse-rivet them and see if it will hold. Hmm, something to do today...

You guys are absolutely crazy, dropping $500.00 on skates. Changing skates is not going to make you skate faster or turn quicker. The best skater on my team wears CCM 652 Tacks he bought on a closeout. No matter how expensive a skate I buy, I will never be as good a skater as him.

I'm with Justin, find a good fitting skate and stick with it.

And I also wouldn't drop all that money on a proto-type inital-run product...

Get a pair of SBX's or Vapors, throw 'em in the oven and then stick them on your feet. Voila, Presto, good fitting skates!

Haha.. I could blow your mind with how much $$ I've dropped on skates in the past two years trying to find ones that fit me right. Let's put it this way, I've tried *every* brand, and several models within...

Kinda hard to tell when you haven't seen his foot...

Exactly, neither fits my foot very well.

I went from Bauer to Easton no problem. It was a bit of adjustment because the Bauer anchors your foot in the ankle and the Easton anchors your foot in the middle, but no bigee. I tried on Grafs and god were those things narrow! It's like one day I went into Kenneth Cole and saw a sick pair of shoes on sale, but when I went to try on my size I couldn't fit the shoe past three toes because it was so narrow. They make their shoes for freaks! I swear....

Geki

if you've gone through so much in the way to find that fit..why not go custom??

I'm seriously considering it, but not sure who to go through. I'm thinking of giving the 8090s a shot after trying them on, they seem very forgiving of my feet. If they don't work out, I don't have much of a choice but to go custom... ;)

If you look anything like the dude in your avatar, I could just imagine what your feet look like! Just Kidding. What do you have, really wide feet? Or are they just an odd shape?
