Reebok Lies about stick weights?

Recommended Posts

Holy crap - its been said in a few different ways but lets get some perspective people. Balance, feel, durability, the length, curves offered, etc - all good reasons to choose a stick.

Weight is a distant player (within reason). Stick weights will vary based on the curve (length for instance), the flex (stiffer in some cases are heavier), if it has grip coating, whatever. But are these SIGNIFICANT adds to weight? I think people see the numbers and say "Hey! This is WAY heavier as its 50 grams more than that one!" when in reality it is less than 2oz difference. Its not even a 1/3 of the weight of a can of coke. If you find that weight difference intolerable, the weight of your twig is the least of your problems.

They will all vary slightly, and I don't recall who said how they came up with the numbers before (Ollie?) but it certainly seemed reasonable. Don't every stick to come in exactly at 395 thanks to grip, length of blade, flex, or even just slight variations in whatever. This doesn't make Reebok a liar. If it actually weighs 500 grams, that's one thing, but 405, 407, 382... statistically insignificant.

So you weighed the sticks in the last 3 days? First post asks if anyone has weighed them so I just wanted to clarify. Lastly, if you don't care then why start this topic in the first place?

Kids, go with the stick that feels good in your hands and stop worrying about what a stick may or may not weigh. To quote an old Survivor song; "If there's magic in the music, its the singer not the song."

I weighed a 8k 2 piece (closest thing i had to a 10k, a brand new se, a cnt stealth and an origional synergy). The only stick that weighed significantly more then the stated weight was the pro stock, but the weight portion on the stick was blacked out so. The se weighed around 425, the 8k weighed about 430 and the stealth had a wood end plug but still weighed about 435-440.

I apologize, I don't have the chart in front of me... since the topic of your post is "Reebok Lies about stick weights", I am lead to believe your statements above, regarding the weights, is to back up your opinion that Reebok lies... however, I can't seem to find the 8k two piece (a completely different stick then the 10K), the cnt stealth, or the original synergy on that chart. For you to call a company dishonest based on your "evidence" is very misleading. What version of the SE did you weigh? Was it the new SE16 released earlier this year or an older model? Was it a stock, uncut, SR? Also, I am sure with your thorough experiment you weighed more than one stick to get a true average.

But like you, the thread starter said, it's not even big deal.

The se is on the chart. I weighed a non grip se forsberg 85 flex as it was the only uncut one i had, i untaped and weighed 2 more each weighing about 410 range but they have a bit cut off. It was also the older model se that i used, not the se16.

Anyways its not even a big deal, I'm actually somewhat of a fan of reebok hockey having owned quite a bit of fine products from them, my friend is getting a new s17 im going to weigh it before he cuts it.

Of all the reps I saw regarding the stick, not many used the weight as an issue for selling the stick. Thank God. All weights are different, hell, a softer stick will always be lighter than a stiffer stick because of more layers of materials. Also, the weight difference of blades makes it hard to just put the weight on, as a longer blade will obviously be heavier than a shorter blade (Lidstrom vs Heatley curves).

I find balance is much more important. SE16 stick was unbelievable, I didn't believe the stick until I got to try it out. Wish I got paid more to afford them.

Although in a perfect world it would be nice to know the correct weights, ive never had a stick that was within the 10% margin of error for the listed weight. I think my last bauer was 60g over what was claimed.

not that its a big deal, like its been said already; can cant notice swinging an extra 60g or whatever, its insiginificant when I weigh 95kg..
