broken pieces stuck inside stick question

Recommended Posts

I just got a used s17 and love it but there are a bunch of broken pieces of glue I assume stuck inside the stick that keep rattling around and drive me crazy. I say stuck because I think the end cap is jammed down inside quite far like over half way down, unless s17's have something inside them normally which i highly doubt. Is there anyway possible to get the rubber piece out to get the shards of plastic out or am I pretty much out of luck, unless I want to cut the blade off. Thanks for any help.

I am not sure how an endcap could get jammed halfway down the shaft but anyway. Get yourself a wooden dowel skinny enough to fit in the shaft and long enough to reach the endcap, rig up a screw to stick out the end. Put the dowel in the shaft until you hit the cap, twist the screw in and pull. Hopefully the screw holds well enough to pull the cap out.

Yeah don't understand how that happens either but its definitely a solid rubber piece from what i can tell. Thanks for the idea though that might work, I'll have to try that tommorow.

i did something similar to this the other day and it worked. great advice.

and for the record, it must take some heavy abuse to get the end cap not only jammed, but jammed far down into the shaft.

cut the stick down past the end cap and put a plug in it

Cut half the shaft? That would be a hell of a long plug.

i thought the cap was like 6 inches down lol

I just read the first post and was about to post exactly what you said. The best bet would be to do what J22 said, or, get a drill with a real long bit, pull the cap out, and let the pieces fall out.
