CCM/RBK Lace Lock Qs...

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a pair of RBK skates that have lace locks and have a couple of questions. #1 are you supposed to supposed to lace them inside-out or vice versa? #2 What's the correct way to unlock?

Thanks!

1) Lace them like normal eyelets.

2)Gently but firmly pull OUT to the sides, and it will unlock. Pulling up can eventually lead to tearing them out.

In the future, I'd recomend running a search first, if you think it's something that has probably been discussed before. I searched "lace lock" and found four pages of stuff. That's enough to give you some info and reviews of them, but not so much you'll have to wade through a bunch of random posts. I'm not trying to be a jerk, it just cuts down on clutter, and saves from people asking the same questions over and over (aka, how do I cut my ops to put a blade in).

Anyway, welcome to the site.

I just switched to RBK and honestly I'm not a fan of the lace lock, because the locking actually happens when you tighten the next lace up, and the laces going thru the "lock" fall loose when you try that, unless you pull on the "lock" lace and then pull inward to try to get it to lock which is kinda a pain. They usually unlock for me if i pull on the lace below em.

Sorry to change the topic slightly, but does anyone know where I can get a few of these or have any off some old skates they could sell me?

Kinda a pain? Locking the lock after pulling thru the lace lock was easy as pie. You just pull the laces outward and then in over the top and they're locked.

Just remember - pull out, not up

Please remember to pull out not up, it will eventually pull the lace locks out. I also recommend carrying a pair of pliers in your bag so you can put them back in if they do come out. My next pair of skates will not have lace locks on them, I hate these things.

EDIT: I'm sure any LHS will have them too.

I really like the lacelocks on my 5k's. Very convenient IMO.

Thanks Dangle, the only problem is they want $20+ to ship 2 lace locks to me

Where are you having them shipped to? They only want $6 for shipping from me.
