XXV or X:30 Skates

Recommended Posts

So I'm going to check out some skates this weekend and there is the possibility that I could snag some XXV for under $250. Are these a much better skate than the current X:30? From what I gather the XXV is one step down from the XXXX, so they would be the better buy correct? I have previously tried on the Vapor line and they fit quite nice. It all comes down to what is available in my size.

Many skaters on my teams including myself have the XXV and I haven't heard a bad word about them. If they fit you before baking they should be an excellent skate.

I don't know what size skate you are, but if your 11.5 or 12 you can get them for $99 here

http://www.hockeygiant.com/nbhvapxxvicsktsr.html

I bought mine last month for that price and I love them.

My buddy was going to get a pair of X:30 from the LHS til I told him about the XXV deal on hockeygiant you posted. He couldn't be happier. They wanted 340 for the X:30.

You big feel guys totally take advantage of closeouts.

X60=Vapor XXXX minus the HydraMax liner..Both have same X-rib quarters

X50=No equivalent A bit higher spec than the Vapor XXV

X40=Vapor XXV

The guys are right. If you get the X-30's you'll be downgrading to the equivilant of the Vapor XXII and paying more money. Get the XXV's and you'll be buying a higher up the line skate equivilant to the X-40's at a much cheaper price. The XXV's are on clearout everywhere right now at less than half their original sticker price. It's an awesome deal.

Ok I picked up a pair of XXV today for $250. Would have loved to get them for $100 from the Giant, but they weren't my size. I can't complain though, I would have paid almost as much for a lesser skate. These are definitely a huge step up from the lousy, ill-fitting Vector 3 I had before. The XXV felt real good when I tried them on, and even better after baking. Can't wait to get out and give them a go.

there's a reason they're $99.99. Sizes available, 11.5 D, 11.5 EE, 12 D

If i get vapor xxxx's instead of X60s, what am i losing?

Same for xxv and x40s

please help, need knew skates

X60s are more responsive to the baking, has a dual layer liner instead of clarino. and the fit is a little different.

My advice is if you can afford the XXXX's go for them , their Bauers top of the line skate and are very nice. If your on a budget or strapped for cash I'd get the XXV's which are almost as good( and slightly heavier in weight) but not enough to really worry about. Either way you get a very nice skate that will probably last you a while and can be heat moulded nicely to your feet. Both are on sale in most LHS's at very reasonable prices to make way for the new X series line.
