One Piece Pro Stock AK-27

Recommended Posts

I just got a one piece pro stock AK-27, basically a two piece but it was fused at the factory....if i don't like the blade that is on it can i take that blade out and put another blade in? also which blades would work?

You might be able to heat it up and pull the blade out like Dolomites. Probably any standard blade would work unless the stick is not actually an AK. But I'm not positive so don't try it yet.

yea the reason i didnt like the blade was because it was a kubina blade, which is a really long blade. It felt alright in the store and once i played with it i realized more that i don't like long blades, they feel kind of sloppy. I had no problem with the way the blade curved just with the length of the blade so i took it down to the basement and fired up the jig-saw and basically took off an inch of the blade and then sanded down the corners making the blade look like its right out of the factory. I was nervous at first about the blade flaking and getting frayed if i cut it but the material is similar to wood and it went smooth....taped it up and now its right where i want it...but thanks for the advice

I've squared off chipped blades on my chop saw before. I always sealed them back up with epoxy afterward, though. Wouldn't water on the inside make the blade go soft after a while?

yes. the foam will either swell up or shrink leaving a hollow spot.

the ak27 ops i belive is a short hossel standard blade, correct me if i'm wrong.

yea i took it to the wood shop at the lumber yard that i work at and had the edges rounded off to make it look like a square toe (lidstrom type blade) but with nice streamlined corners and edges. After that i dipped the exposed cut-off edge in epoxy to seal it up and then taped that bad larry up....the blade is perfect now, about 1" shorter (the kubina pro stock curve was massive, very sloppy on the puck)

Figured I would bump this thread rather than create a new one.

I picked up three of these but it doesn't look or feel like the retail AK27.

I'd assume it is a repainted Dolo? What do you guys think?
