We only have 9 players on our team so we have no idea how good we're gonna do this year, conditioning will be a problem with some of our players. I'm suspended 'til the tournament on october 11th missed a game and a half but I'm still the leading scorer! I think.... My season is currently on hold because of my lack of a league to play in. I'm thinking beer league, but need some friends to join with. Biskitindabaskit 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2004 Mine just started last weekend. We went 1-2. We played the team that had cut me and my brother and totally outplayed them. The score was close untill the 3rd period. We only had 5 forwards and 4 D. Im just happy I scored against my old team. Ive never been beaten up so bad in my life. First I beat the D one on one and as im skating by he grabs the front of my jersey and pulled me backwards to the ice. Ive never hit my head so hard in my life. My next shift back I scored so im happy lol. Then right after I scored I got checked into my own bench. I now have this huge bruise on my hip.I dont know why I got cut. hockey_player_11 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2004 Kind of unrelated, but in the 2nd game my team won, we were down by 2 and then went on a scoring spree in the 3rd. But the next day we get an email from the GTHL saying that the game only counts as 1-0 because they had a player on who was supposed to be suspended. Kinda stupid eh? I'm pissed that I should have been a captain but the two worst on the team, (2 coach kids) are instead of me. Obviously you want someone who contributes atleast a little to the stat sheet, but its more about being a leader and supporting the team, stepping up when you have to. I have a good chance at captaincy for my team but I already know I wont be the leading scorer, barring a miracle. I just talk alot, try and help everyone out and be postive, keep practice from getting to crazy, keep the kids focused. Scoring goals isn't as big as its made to be in captaincy. Most of the teams I have played on, the captain was the best leader, and the two A's were usualy the best skilled. Of course, sometimes the best leader is also the best skilled or the best skilled is just a total ass that he doesnt get an A, but usualy thats how it worked where i was. Eazy_b97 1 Report post Posted October 2, 2004 I think alot of people assume its easy to pick captains as well there are alot of factors that go into picking captains. However I think it's terrible when the coaches kid gets a 'C' I had an 'A' for one year when my dad coached and that was based on team voting. I also captained the majority of my teams (when my dad wasn't affiliated with the team). Obviously some "no coaches kid captain the team rule" will have exemptions, but it takes a special kid. But its always a good thing to say to the opposing team's captain if his dad happens to be the coach.
