A kid who never seems to get the attention he deserves, Artem Anisimov is finally getting a chance to shine under John Tortorella. Well, in the last two preseason games he's participated in, he has racked up 4 points with a goal and an assist in each game, both goals incredibly impressive. The kid has a Datsyuk-like game, though he definitely approaches it differently, partially because of his size, but also because he's not quite as fast off the line (though he can move).

Anyway, check these two beauties out.

First, his goal against Boston yesturday:

Second, his goal against Detroit:

Now, I realize I am partially biased - I have been following this kid since day 1 of draft day and have always thought he could be the true center that the Ranger's would develop into a top line talent, but it's nice to see that he is stepping up and earning a roster spot.

Anyway, hope you guys enjoy the goals as much as I did. :D

Settle down, big guy. If we were handing out year-end awards based on two preseason games, Gilroy would have the Norris.

Anisimov will JUST make the team this year, in my opinion, as a Third-line center. Very gifted with his hands, and great defensive positioning, but far from rookie of the year.

Never said he will be, but I said he will be/should be considered.

Also, I don't see him "just" making the team, I would have to say it's pretty much a lock. Yes he will start as a third liner, but when your competition is Chris "I am almost as boring when I play as when I speak" Drury, Brandon Dubinsky and possibly Vinny Prospal, he has a legitimate shot at playing with Gaborik later in the season. If he does, it could end up working out very nicely for him.

I would still put Varlamov and JT as my front runners for the RotY, but he certainly has to be part of the argument.

second goal is not that special in my mind a great many player in the nhl can make that move. the first was a great move but remember this is just he preseason, alot of regulars are not playing.

Yes its preseason but Thomas was still in net. Give the kid some credit. Enough regulars are playing to make it impressive.

that first goal was pretty sick. seems like a good skater strong on his feet.

also that second goal. he destroyed that puck the way he torqued up that shot. i think Osgood maybe didnt even see it.

btw, as much as i hate the rangers, there is a kid on there named Evgeny Grachev who used to play for the Brampton Batallion. He was amazing in the O, i used to watch him alot. fast, great hands and good hockey sense.

that kid is going to be freakin awesome if he makes the team.

The move wasn't anything special, but the whole leadup play back in the defensive zone was top notch, that's what impressed me.

Agreed. The second goal's shot isn't as impressive as the rest of the play. He was there from start to finish and did everything right. it was just an all around beautiful play.

A few preseason games does not make a season. Good plays no doubt, but an 82 game grind is a whole new ballgame. Gotta see who can play an NHL caliber game for an entire season before I think about Calder candidates.

Agreed for sure, but the kid put up 81 points (37 goals) last year in the A as a second year player in this country. He has the tools, the size and the brains to be a great hockey player, and so far has backed it up every year since the Rangers drafted him.

I think he is one of many prospects in the Atlantic Division this year that are set to impress.

Drury is a solid two way player. Was never an "exciting" player, but great 2nd line center, in between Higgins and Callahan. The Blueshirt Blue-Collar line. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with Prospal. The guy can move the puck. His passing is incredibly underrated, and if Glass-borik can stay on the ice, all he has to do is get open and VP will dish it.

No, he hasn't. Only some light skating by himself. But don't worry: It's only his groin. NOT the surgically repaired hips.

EPIC FAIL.

Steve Guolla lit up the "A" for years. Keith Aucoin has put up some great numbers for a few years, as well. Lighting up the "A" and lighting up the bigs are 2 entirely different things.

Sure, but neither of them did it at the Age of 20, nor did either of them break into the RSL at 17.

For the record, I'm not alone:
