Red Wings 2009-10 thread

yea the wings are banged up, but once we get our guys back we will start making our run to the playoffs. Bertuzzi has confidence now wait till franzen comes in. Oh and Howard has impressed me lately.

My brother, my girlfriend, and I went to the Wings/Ducks game last week... such a sad evening to see them lose. :(

Even worse, was having to deal with all the jackass Ducks fans after the game.

Anywho, we're gonna hit up both games next month (Kings and Ducks), so hopefully they do better!

What a game tonight!!! Sorry, Im an Islander fan ( a rare species). I don't think its just the injuries that are causing this tumble down the standings. The Islanders outworked the Redwings in every single shift. The wings seem to think they don't need to work hard because Z, Datys and Lidstrom are on the team. Shremp for MVP lmao

the islanders forcheck was on point tonight. you cant create scoring chances when you cant get the puck out of your own zone. as embarrassing as it was everyone gets their ass handed to them every so often.

Yea I think it was a fluke, they just need to regroup after that road-trip. I am also disappointed in how many games we've been shutout this year. (we are missing key players though)

They're a point out of 8th place in the West with 30-something games to go. All I care about is getting into the playoffs once all the players are back and with enough time for everyone to be in the groove.

Who all is still injured? I've been catching the games bit by bit, but not listening to any pre/mid/post game commentary.

Jason Williams is still out broken leg, Ericsson is out with bruised knee, Franzen out with ACL should be back march 1st latest. Im sure there is someone else. EDIT Holmstrom out with broken foot and Kronwall knee trouble and lilja is still out.

They've confirmed that Kronner only sprained his MCL, didn't tear it, but he still can't skate hard on it. Team Doctor's are flummoxed as to why he hasn't recoverred yet. Not a good sign

Yea we need those key D back, I can't wait until franzen comes back. And with bertuzzi we will be a good playoff team. Just need a consistent goalie!

wtf is going on with them today?

I know it has been a while but this is what it looks like when the other team has more talent than the wings.

That's one of the few successful and legal shootout spinorama's I've ever seen: the puck didn't move backwards, and Bert didn't interfere with the goalie - unlike, say, Mason Raymond or Jason Blake.

I was watching the Wings games that the Datsyuk highlight is from. One of the best third period and overtime games I've watched in a while.Nail biting and edge of my seat for most of the 3rd and all of OT. With Datsyuk and Bertuzzi putting up some fancy goals I was disappointed that the still lost the shootout. Howard let in what should have been saves by reacting too early or just reading it wrong. He still has lots of room to improve his game before he's truly at the skill of where his numbers have him (#3 and 5 for SV% and GAA?).

It is really frustrating watching the Wings not be dominant. It's not like it was when I was a kid when I had a Lions-like expectation, they've been top of the league for how many years?

I don't think Lidstrom will be a Norris candidate (though Stuart might :P), and they're scraping together points for 8th place in the West.

So what's the biggest issue? Losing too many people between injuries and offseason moves must be up there.

Anyone see any deadline moves? As much as I hate to say it, moving Franzen and Kronwall for a solid D-man might be an option. If those two can't get healthy by the deadline I can see moving them for a healthy vet to try and keep the load off of Stuart, Rafalski and Lidstrom.
