pattern db

Recommended Posts

Im looking on the pattern DB and im looking for sticks with the same lie as my naslund curve, which my stick says is a 6. I look up 6 and it isnt there. so i check 5.5 and find that the naslund curve is there along with every other nikebauer curve that i was labeled as a 6 lie. Now does this mean that nikebauer labeled the lie wrong similar to what warrior does with their lie's and its actually 5.5 or is it all mislabeled in the pattern db.

I also have a sherwood 5030 in a coffey curve that says its a 5.5 and the coffey curve is significantly lower lie then my naslund

wait then why is my naslund curve when put directly side by side with my coffey curve seem higher then the coffey if in the db it says there both 5.5

You could be doing it wrong, or the curve has changed since the DB was compiled. I don't know how many revisions these curves have gone through, and there isn't much effort put into keeping it updated due to stick-to-stick variations and companies like Reebok changing every year.

How are you measuring it?

Are the rockers the same?

basically i put the shafts straight up side by side and make the heels of the blade next to each other. i look at where the heel starts (same point) and were the toe ends (different spots).

I did not take notice of the rocker but i mean theres so much of a difference that i doubt the rocker could effect it that much

That's exactly how not to measure the lie of a blade. Next time I see a coffey blade I will double check, but I have seen versions that are anywhere from 4.5 to 6 over the years. Consistency has not been one of the strong points of Sherwood.

yup just checked them both. and they start out about the same but the naslund has way more of a rocker then coffey.

on a second note can you sand down a wooden blade to get a rocker or is that bad for the blades durability

If you match up the shaft and the heel, every blade will match up for part of the blade. You have to measure with the middle of the blade flat on the floor/ice and leave the heel and toe in the air when comparing blades.

You can sand it down but you will probably have durability issues and could easily make the blade too thin for play under USAH or HC rules.

alright thanks. Btw what curve is similar to a naslund in RBK. The datsyuk? the only difference seems to be the lie.

nothing really, if it has to be a mid the datsyuk or bergeron if you want a bigger curve, closest to sakic is the crosby
