Tuuk LS2 on graf's problem? (need help)

Recommended Posts

so i took my skates to the local play it again sports as i had a credit from there and had tuuk ls2's put on...its a size 6.5 graf skate that had 254 sized cobras on there

they put a size 263 ls2 on there and this is what happened.

at the shop i asked the guy if it was normal as it didnt look right to me, and he said "yah ive seen it alot, you should be okay. enjoy the skates"

just wanted some other opinions before i get on the phone with them.

what do you guys think.

Butch job.

Exactly why I don't take my skates anywhere near a PIAS. Granted, I do my own skates so it's a non issue, but PIAS is most definitely a no-go for sharpenings/any type of skate work.

Great for everything else though.

Sorry to hijack, but has anyone turned to Fix it by mail to do this? I am sending another pair of gloves to them soon anyway, and saw on the site that they change holders too for what seems to me like a good price, compared to what I've heard from local shops.

i haven't had that problem but i took my skate to a play it again just for a sharpening and they rocked my skates/ (sharpened to hard so my toe and heal are basically non-existent). the goalie on my team had the same prob. were somehow they sharpened the skates crocked....... dont ask me how. play it again is only good for buying new product. good luck!

should i take them back and ask them to put a 254 ls2 holder on it instead of the 263...

or is it okay like this when i am playing?

i havent used them on the ice yet. took my old skates out today to power skating.

i took them in to get them profiled somewhere and they said they didnt want to do it until i straightened out this issue...

all your guys' help is greatly appreciated.

maybe JR or Chadd could help me out and let me know if this is okay or not?

Holy Ballz! That has got to be one of the Worst things I've ever seen. I would be LIVID on the phone with those clowns. You would at least Hope someone would do a little Research in how to do things like that. People are supposedly trusting them to be somewhat knowledgeable when it comes to that, and then they do That? What a disgrace to the rest of us who actually care about what we do.

Take them back and ask for the correct size tower. If they don't have it, find someone else who does, as PIAS is crap for skates anyway. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the tower is never supposed to go beyond the boot.

I'd love to see the heel, because to be quite honest, there's way too much overhang on the front. You COULD get away with a 263 on a 6.5, but that leads me to believe that the heel is pretty bad.

My old shop is getting a reputation for doing things like this.

So what they did was line up the heel perfectly, started to drill holes, and then when they got to the toe saw what happened and said "Oh well."

They could've made the 263 work if they would have given it a bit of hang (basically even out the heel and toe.)

The problem is that the balance point on your radius is going to be quite a bit forward. You may not skate well in them.

I would have them tear it off and put what is supposed to be on there, 254mm.

okay so here goes

i just called them and they said they would get me 254 holders and replace them and apologized for the inconvenience and i would have my skates good to go by tuesday/wednesday.

entire conversation lasted 2 minutes and the manager is actually the guy that did my skates...he was the one i spoke too.

sweet.

thanks everyone for all your help with this.

p.s. he also assured me that when the 254's are put on it would be perfectly alligned and measured out to make sure its okay and even.

thanks to everyone again that posted on here with some advice. :D

WTF!!!! Those holders are way to oversize. Take em back and tell them to use the proper size holder for that size skate. There shouldn't be any overhang on either side. What a chop job that is! Better yet just get your cash back and go to someplace that knows what their doing because these guys haven't got a clue!! Find a LHS you can depend on and stick with them and you'll be fine.
