CCM/Ovie's GR8 Equip line

Hockey Monkey's pg on GR8 line up.

I was just perusing this section and thought that the majority of the kit (plus all the skates) look a little on the medium to low end quality scale. Is this a new line up for the holidays? Or just CCM cashing in on Ovie's image again?

PS: I love the picture of Ovie rocking his pro stock U+ with TUUK holders. Wished they made the GR8 skates line like that.

well the top two shoulder pads are the top two pads ccm offers, based on the looks and construction.

i think the bigger question is... SMU or CCM product?

Obviously, so why SMU a line up of Med-Low level kit with only a few exceptions? Are they just trying to hit the largest part of the market?

reconciliation between kids and parents. kids want ovies shit. parents want cheap ass prices. hitting that middle price point is golden. plus, kids may even downgrade from what they want, just to wear ovies signature line, which parents can see that as a releif... ie switch from U+09 to U+07 equivalent.

yeah but you're not 12. If there was a line of Fedorov protective with 91's and huge swooshes all over it I would have begged for them. Now theres no way I'd have Ovie's custom logo on my shoulders. Or anyone elses.

Most hockey gear whores over age 14 would never rock this...but would kill for the pro stock stuff. Puck_it is right...you just can't have a signature series of high end stuff, because it just won't sell and LHS would kill the manufacturers for having to carry more overstock of shit they can't give away...except to 12 year olds at a target price. Hockey is expensive enough...paying pro equipment prices for kid's gear would certainly make my blood boil. The only exceptions in my opinion are in the skates and helmet category...meaning places I would not lose sleep on price, but would not buy because anyone's name is on the damn thing.

I think the only real part that has me stumped is the shoulders. I know AO has been rockin' the red shoulders since last year, but I highly doubt they have his signature on them. An interesting SMU that I like, but why did they have to spoil it with the signature on the naval...just not my cup of tea if you know what I mean.

This is no different form the SC87 line of gear that was mid range. Kids love it, and it's affordable for parents making it a win win.

Im assuming that most of this stuff is mid to low range the only thing I can garentee is high quality is the shoulder pads because ovechkin actually wears those its not just garbage with his name on it

and since it's SMU, this is a way for them to lure the mid range customer to them only, and away from the other online retailers, or an LHS

they actually released a gr8-ovi U+ skate. and a gr8-sk9...but for some reason hockeymonkey doesnt have them listed. There pretty much the U+ 07 with the Ovie tongue and gold lace eyelets. im pretty sure pro hockey life has them, but there website is shite

i love the sc87 dri fit stuff thats always on clearance at the reebok outlet store nearby. me and my brother have some nice sc87 gear for the gym(very possible) lol...for dirt cheap.

Half of my teammates that are just getting into hockey wear the CROSBY branded Reebok equipment. It looks a little weird, but who cares as long as they want to play and get into hockey?
