Cutting Tape

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this sounds really stupid but does anybody have problems ripping their tape? I always end up having to use scissors but other people see to have no trouble ripping their tape.

Teeth and fingers work great. If you use your fingers you have to rip a perfect sideways on the tape.

Or just do what I do, keep a retractable stanley knife in your kit bag. My kit bag contains knife, tape, golf ball, wax, hone stone etc.

Golf balls are usually used to warm up the hands either before a game or overspeed stickhandling workouts. They also help with developing soft hands

1. generally you should rip from sticky part outwards... so the sticky part is facing you and you rip outwards

2. keep your fingernails close together

I'm gonna guess overspeed stickhandling training - warming up the hands before a game?

All of the above. ;)

I like to take mini hockey nets and using golf balls stickhandle around them while watching tv. Great cause it works on carpet, and allows me to work on a variety of different things using the nets as an obstacle, all while being fun and enjoyable at home! lol

I use it just before games, but I use a real puck to practice. If I use the golf ball too much then I get used to the low weight. Not good for a skinny ass guy who needs more power.

You may just need practice. I used to work with my college's athletic training staff (lots of tape ripping there), and some people just really struggled to learn to rip tape, but they all figured it out in the end. When you're ripping it don't try and pull both sides away from each other, hold one side still and rip the other (hopefully that made sense). It's also almost impossible to rip it if the edge has started to roll.

Yeah, one of the lads has one here, I felt the feel was kinda wobbly. Like handling a field hockey ball.

I invested in one of those office chair matts made of hard plastic a few weeks back. It's a great shooting/handling pad. The inline puck moves like an ice puck on it and seeing as it's summer I have been working on my shot, trying to use the flex more. It's coming along slowly, but surely.

aussie joe, have you ever used that ball that is the same height and weight as a puck?

more expensive than a golf ball, but addresses the informalities.

I have one of those, they are pretty good for just stick handling around, the weight helps too

aussie, if you put three of them together you have a skill pad. I tried it a few month ago, and also sprayed it with silicon spray to give it a little more slide... good stuff! I'm giving it to Darkbyte, she needs a place to practice...

I've got some older laminate flooring that I got on clearance... great shooting pad
