Do you really have a harder shot with a tapered shaft over a traditional shaft

I am trying to decide on a mission m-2 shaft or a l-2 shaft with a blade. I like them both but the m-2 well be much easier on my wallet. I was just wondering if you really do get that much harder of a shot and how much of a difference is there.

It doesn't. The only thing that a tapered shaft does is provide a quicker release. That too is also just in theory.

The right flex makes all of the difference in the world. Tapered doesn't make that big of a difference to me for slappers.

If you would want to be lighter on your wallet in the long run, i would think that an investment in an l-2 would be smarter. M-2 Shafts sell here for about 135 CDN and the L-2 goes for 190. The l-2 however, comes with 2 tapered graphite blades, and for a 55 dollar difference, i doubt you will be able to purchase two composite blades. Just my opinion.

Think about how long it takes for a good goalie to react to your shot. That fraction of a second can be the difference between a goal and a nice save. Like I said before, the taper helping with the release isn't a proven thing so it may not even matter. However, the psychological edge that it gives you will probably help your game if you believe that it in fact does help with your release.

I think tapered shafts have better balance than standard, and I,ve noticed accuracy is a little better. However I stickhandle the majority of the game, and nothing has come near my Z-bubble and z-carbon blade combo.

I dont know about that, my TPS Redlite XN10/X-1 combo is lighter than my friends stealth and even better balanced. His Stealth is blade heavy while the balance point on my TPS combo is near the point where the shaft meets the blade.

I prefer the extra flex that comes from tapered shafts. They definitely feel different when shooting wristers and snappers compared to standard, I don't believe it's psychological. I think I do shoot slightly better with tapered shafts, but I haven't used a standard shaft with the right flex for a while now to say for sure. I'll be testing that out again soon hopefully.
