Credit Card to buy sticks = 90 day warranty?

Recommended Posts

I know on my credit card it has a Purchase Security Plan.

The Purchase Security Plan automatically,

without registration, protects most new Insured Items

purchased anywhere in the world (provided the full

Purchase Price is charged to the Account) by insuring them

for ninety (90) days from the date of purchase in the event

of loss, theft, damage or fire in excess of Other Insurance.

Has anyone tried to use that up to 90 days to warranty a stick? I fully read the contract and it says nothing about them not. Kind of a loop hole to extend your warranty.

I wouldn't go out of my way to break a stick in hopes of getting a new one, but if it just happens to break than it's worth a shot. Lolol.

Why would you break a stick thats perfectly fine to get a new one thats perfectly fine? Kind of a waste of money for shipping and hassle and what not.

Yeah I guess, a lot of dumb shit goes through a kids head. I bet they would post a video of them breaking a stick on purpose and add their full name and what not. Than wonder why their warranty got denied.

Is your plan a special add on that you pay monthly for or is it standard for anyone with that card? If its something you pay extra for I think they are more likely to cover it

This is actually pretty interesting. I know my dad is always telling me to use my Amex because their insurance/protection or what not is pretty good. I don't have any extra insurance options though, just whatever comes with my card.

Yeah I know with most cards that you pay a yearly fee to just have the card. They will usually double the manufactures warranty. I have a scotia gold visa card and I know it does.

This explains why citi is going to raise my interest rate another 4% this year. Never missed a payment and my rate will have more than doubled this year.

if you've never missed a payment, why does the interest rate bother you?

edit: unless you mean you carry a balance. in which case, just call them and ask them for a better rate. if they dont, apply for a new card, and transfer the balance and stop using the card. balance transfers have super low rates.

I've already started transferring the balance. It's still a a pain in the ass for automatic payments.

Amex Blue carries it, no fee.

I know a guy that has used it before.

He came into our store with a broken one piece and asked us to reprint his original receipt for he had lost his, I check the date and it's like 2 months by now and I tell him that its only a 30 day warranty.

He tells me that his credit card company has a 90 day warranty on all items that he purchased and that the hockey stick falls under that category. And he's done it before so it has worked in the past.

Well thats really good to know. I think easton should offer a extended warranty if your going to shell out $300 for a stick.

Also if your carrying a balance on your credit card, either get a line of credit or some cards have a 0% balance rate for 6 months. Which is pretty much free money for 6 months. I know in the past when I bought large $$ items that I need cash for, I would take out a card for 10k get a 10k cash advance than get another card with a 0% balance than transfer it over.

Not a stick, but i purchased a laptop on my visa a few years ago. There was a 1 year warranty on the laptop but since it was over $1000 it was automatically insured with my visa. Long story short the hard drive crashed about 6 months ago. I called up visa and they told me to get quotes to fix it. They paid for the new hard drive + labour and i was pretty happy.
