Figured it was time for a thread on these skates. There are plenty of pics floating around of the skates on peoples' feet.

I was able to find a patent filing related to stride extension. It seems to cover both a mos of existing boots and the technology itself (to be applied to any future boot).

Without getting a good look at the tendon guard in the pics it's hard to tell if these patents reflect the tech in the boots we are seeing in the show.

i don't believe there was a thread but i think this was already discussed in the gear sighting. maybe not sure.

So, if I understand the patent correctly, what they are patenting is a flexing tendon guard that allows your ankle to extend to an angle that is much closer to your "natural" maximum angle than current skates allow. From the graphs, it appears that this extra 20-30 degrees of ankle extension creates increased acceleration and speed.

Those of you out there that are "in the know," is that patent the only real innovation related to these skates or are there other major innovations in the skate, that would make it truly revolutionary, which aren't covered by this specific patent application?

Someone clue me in..Is Gonchar in modified Graf 703s or the CCMs or a prototype built after mods to the two previous skates?
