BrianMatthew19 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2009 Hi, I'm new to the board, my brother is Dsjunior1388 on here and he told me about it. Anyway, I'm going to graduate from High School and go on to Lake Superior State, and was just wondering if anyone on here was at LSSU or was an alumni, just trying to connect and figure out where rinks are, and what are my options for adult league hockey or Intermural and stuff like that. I also would like to know what kind of Hockey shops are in that area. I am looking to upgrade some gear and am wondering if it's better I do that before I leave for school, or can I find a good lace to do that up in that area (or hopping the border to canada for some places. shooter27 116 Report post Posted December 27, 2009 They have a D1 NCAA (varsity) team and a D3 ACHA (club) team. A number of schools with D1 teams also have ACHA teams. ACHA really isn't comparable to the NCAA level.
prenny207 1 Report post Posted December 27, 2009 Theres a couple rinks in town. the campus rink, and big bear ice arena. im sure there are some mens leagues in town, but i'm not familiar with them. look up the rinks phone numbers and give them a ring. they should be able to offer you info on mens leagues. as for IM hockey, the school will have an IM dept that should be able to get you that info.not much by way of hockey shops, but the campus rink has a pro shop last i recall.I hope you enjoy winter!!! Lots of snow.

ACHA really isn't comparable to the NCAA level. Most have them actually. And a surprising number of colleges have ACHA that don't offer varsity D1 or D3. D3 ACHA would be pretty much HS, so you could probably play that if you were interested. It is a lot of travel but im pretty sure your area wouldn't have to go far. Gummer12 134 Report post Posted December 28, 2009 By far the best rink in town is the Pullar rink down on the riverfront. An OLD Building with lots of character. But Big Bear and Taffey Abel are also solid arenas. IM will probably be your best bet for getting the 411. But MSH ID Goalieman lives up there and can help you out as far as LHS goes and any other fun things to do in the Soo. Tell him I sent ya. And Don't forget to get one of the Blue and Gold Lakers Toques. You'll see em when you get up there. ;)
